Today is Dr. Habteweld's last day 😢 He is moving on to a new job with the USDA. He does most of the nematode counting for the @NemaAssayLab, so for the next 6 weeks it will be me. Apologies in advance if samples take a little longer than normal!

@JayCapasso @bibekUF Agreed. @NemaAssayLab is our center for processing samples. Nematode populations tend to be low this time of year, but samples can still be useful.

Did you know that Florida has a small commercial passion fruit industry? Did you know root-knot nematode is one of the major pests for this industry? Now you do 😁

Visited our potato nematode trials @UF_HAEC again this week. Seeing canopy stunting in some treatments, which is consistent with sting nematode damage, the primary target nematode in these trials. Testing various nematicides and fall/summer cover crops in these trials.

Our team has dug out 18 tons of gravel and dirt from under the greenhouse benches by hand. Four greenhouses down, one more to go!

I'll be talking about nematode management in cotton and peanut at the panhandle row crop short course in Mariana on March 2.

Today I got to tour the Gator baseball field with the turf staff from the UF Plant Science Unit

Matthew Walkup has been working for us part time since he was in highschool in 2016. He just graduated from UF and started full time with us as a Lab Tech 2! A great young man!

Come to our workshop at the @GCSAAConference in Orlando! Me and @Alto_Fuego will be tag-teaming for the first time!

The last day for the @NemaAssayLab to receive samples for mist extraction in 2022 is December 19, and for soil extraction December 20. Samples arriving after that will not be processed until 2023!

Didn't get any useful yield data from tomato root-knot nematode trial @nfrec_sv last week. Severe whitefly/virus pressure. We were able to collect some data on nematode damage to roots and soil nematode abundance. #UFBugs

This experiment is so pretty it seems like a shame to terminate it it☹️
