My, at the time, cogressman Adam Schiff, used to come to my work a couple times a year. Got to mention to him in person that I thought he was doing a great job, and he seemed genuinely pleased to hear it.

@NetEng_Ian yes! i like to call even democratic reps bc sometimes they need some love to show they’re actively supported in standing up against this crap. also we’ve seen some dems go against their constituents recently… we have to make sure they know what we want

This is 100% true. Even if your senators and congressperson are pretty much in lock-step with your opinions (like mine), the call stats you're helping to generate drive issues and how those issues are prioritized.

some reps do listen to voicemails, some don’t. but their staffers tally the issues that are brought up by their constituents, and what their opinions are. THAT is what matters. we CAN sway them if enough of us call in and complain. email too. but calls mean A LOT. source: i used to do a lot of activism. also activists & staffers now are repeating this.
