if the dems were smart they would rally behind matt mahan. CA is such a dumpster fire with so many low hanging fruit to address and mahan seems competent enough to get it done. Roll this into a 2032 election story and you have a real candidate with a proven track record.

@maxdubler Crazy its almost like one of those things a free market could decide, since some cities have cheaper housing than others

Corporate-owned single family house rental Discourse frustrates me because none of the anti corporate people will admit that they think lower middle class renters should be forced to live in apartments so that upper middle class families can buy the houses they currently rent.

Most people do not want 15-20 oil leaking nissan altimas parked on their street thanks to the new multifamily development actually.

@drvictoriafox 4 plexes are fine and perfectly nice. I’m sorry if your delicate little princess eyes will be damaged if you see them, but that’s not my problem

@NetanYolo We both both seem to acknowledge that cars disgusting and repulsive and being around them is the worse thing that can happen to you. So why do you live around them? Move to someplace where they aren’t needed so much

@NetanYolo @drvictoriafox Let’s pull out all the stops until we have housing abundance to bring rents down to no more than 1/3 of median household incomes. Until then, let investors build housing wholeheartedly, as they have the knowledge and insight to invest where there is market demand.

I think people in LA have convinced themselves that the “housing shortage” is so dire, the only way to house people is by mowing down every single family home and replacing it with a 4-plex. This kind of deluded catastrophizing will only end with bad housing policies that make LA ugly and unlivable.

@constans “If you care so much why dont you move” buddy thats why the suburbs exist and for some reason you still want to police this. Most people do not want a bunch of cars parked in the street of their neighborhood, not to mention most old city streets are really not wide enough

@NetanYolo They 4plex fan have parking or people can park on the street like everyone may do. If you hate cars so much, why do you live in a car-oriented neighborhood ?

I dont get the “no kings “ protests from a strategy angle. Trump has 2years left on his second term, his “rule” his ending soon regardless. Why not use this energy to platform and raise awareness for the democratic candidate(s) they want in 2028/32?

@NetanYolo @drvictoriafox Do you understand that actual cities take 1% of Earth’s surface, and you can have an idealized homestead, or suburban and village life, or wildlife reserves, anywhere else?

I'd like to read a cultural history of how the Wall Street Bets/Apes phenomenon went from being an actually somewhat interesting Millennial/Zoomer anti-Wall Street decentralized protest to basically being Boomer-tier conservative talk radio.

Santa Monica Place Mall used to be one of the most popular and busiest malls in Santa Monica, California It is only 2 blocks from the water Now because of Gavin Newsom and California Democrat policies it looks like this… Empty, a ghost town, stores all closed. Sad

My boomer retired parents do this shit. Ive tried to explain to them how immigration (both “legal” and illegal) and DEI policies, both pillars of leftist policy for the past decade, have negatively impacted my life on numerous tangible economic fronts

The Villages retirement community in Florida have turned out in huge numbers for No Kings. William Steiner, our Villages correspondent, says that the turnout is twice as big as last year's.
