The proposed Joliet data center would cover 795 acres, about the size of 2.5 Grant Parks.
At full buildout, it would consume 1.8 gigawatts of electricity.
For reference, the entire City of Chicago uses about 3.45 gigawatts.
One facility. More than half of Chicago's power.

Joliet City Council passes data center project 8-1. This will be the largest data center in Illinois, the size of Central Park. @WGNNews

@Acyn The most depressing part is come midterms, guys like this will see one commercial about how voting for a democrat will mean trans people in your daughter's bathrooms, and just like that his whole ticket will be red.
English

@j_macgeever @theMMQB @AlbertBreer 1. They could've kept Waddle and still have nearly $100m in cap space in 2027. Cost is not a valid reason.
2. This isn't just about winning games in 2026. Waddle is a legit WR1 and he's only 27. Those are guys you build around--not guys you trade in exchange for building blocks.
English

@NikosRay @theMMQB @AlbertBreer Were they going to win games next year? You really don’t understand sports

@lookingglass401 @wyche89 If they kept Waddle, they'd have nearly $100m in cap space and a 28 yr old WR1 entering 2027, and the new QB1 would have a legitimate weapon right now instead of a potential draft pick that will hopefully maybe someday be as good as the one you traded.
English

@lookingglass401 @wyche89 Yes it's possible they draft a WR1. But why tf would you trade away an established WR1 for a draft pick that in a best case scenario gives you a player like the one you just traded? 27yo WR1s are the guys you build around, not the guys you trade away for other building blocks.
English

Because they aren’t worried about winning 10 games in 2026. They’re expecting by May of 2027 to have the roster built how they want it with a mature QB ready to lead. Plenty of skill guys come in and have impact year one. Waddle did. They have 2 drafts and cap space next year. I expect results in 2027. Not saying they win 13 games but figuring for the playoffs for sure.
English

@lookingglass401 @wyche89 You're missing the point.
They got a QB that's ready NOW, but instead of building around him NOW, they traded his WR1 and committed to a rebuild that hopefully makes them competitive by 27, but only if Willis proves he's legit in 26 with no WRs or OL. Just so backwards.
English

@NikosRay @wyche89 There’s an nfl draft in April and they have 11 picks with 7 in the top 94. And they will have more in 2027 and $140m in cap space a year from now. If they don’t need to spend a 1 on a QB and wait 2-3 years for him to mature, they absolutely have shot nitrous into this rebuild.
English

@lookingglass401 @wyche89 My man, trading away your best offensive player, rolling with a sub-par o-line, and taking the largest dead cap in NFL history is the opposite of shooting nitrous into a rebuild. The offense is lacking so much talent that it's almost not even fair to judge Willis based on 2026
English

@BallYodaKnows @StevePalazzolo_ Some teams just prefer to rely on exploiting matchups with their bullpen rather than letting a pitcher find a groove for 7 innings, and it keeps the starter fresh. I also find it annoying but it is a valid strategy if you don't have a superstar pitcher but have a good bullpen.
English

@StevePalazzolo_ Steve, what's the actual explanation as to why modern baseball strategy is a new pitcher every inning after the opener comes out? Constantly you'll see a good pitcher have a good inning and then next inning he's out and his replacement poops his pants and loses the game
English

@49ersballknower @SInow It means nothing? Do you have CTE?
Dead money counts against the salary cap but doesn't go to anyone currently on the team. The more dead money, the less you have to pay the guys actually on the roster. It absolutely means something.
English

@SInow It's infuriating to me that people don't understand dead money. It legitimately means nothing
English

With the Jaylen Waddle trade, the Dolphins are now taking on more than $175 million in dead cap money this season si.com/nfl/dolphins-c…

@shygermanboy @Big_Kirbs @hayasaka_aryan @SocDoneLeft Right.
Those countries that graduated? We helped them until they didn't need help anymore (because the idea foreign aid doesn't help is a myth).
Now we're doing that in other places. If we suddenly cut them off when they still need help, people die. That's how it works.
English

@NikosRay @Big_Kirbs @hayasaka_aryan @SocDoneLeft And yet here you are complaining that cutting off said aid will lead to millions dying.
English

"these poor kids had to sit for a deposition 🥺😭"
These men sentenced 1 million people a year to death.
They HALVED federal science funding.
They've done more to destroy this country and this world than anything "DEI" has ever done.

What they did to these DOGE kids, purely to harass them and discourage anyone else from even trying to do real civic work, is completely beyond the pale. Truly sick people. Credit to Nathan Cavanaugh for running circles around that mob.
English

@shygermanboy @Big_Kirbs @hayasaka_aryan @SocDoneLeft This is something that you would only repeat if you get your info via youtube and memes.
There are so many African countries that successfully "graduated" from foreign dependence, yet people who don't know shit will confidently say that no humanitarian aid has ever helped Africa
English

@NikosRay @Big_Kirbs @hayasaka_aryan @SocDoneLeft yes millions of children around are alive because of these aids. That's the problem. These children wouldn't even be there without the aid.
It doesnt help at all, it just multiplies the problem and even more aid is needed.

English

@Big_Kirbs @hayasaka_aryan @SocDoneLeft We're currently in a population crisis. We aren't producing enough people in the U.S.
Know who statistically commit crimes at lower rates, get well-educated, start families, and do quality work? Immigrants. So if we mess up and force them to come here, it's a win-win!
English

@NikosRay @hayasaka_aryan @SocDoneLeft When an old lady falls on the sidewalk and i help her its not going to ruin my country.
When i feed starving africans who cant take care of themselves and thry have babies who cant take care of themselves im just making an even bigger disaster.
Then they get shipped here.

English

@NikosRay @hayasaka_aryan @SocDoneLeft Why cant these people take care of themselves? Why on earth would i take on their care indefinitely?
No one else would ever do this because its totally absurd on its face. It is unsustainable to babysit billions of hostiles that have A WHOLW FUCKING CONTINENT TO LIVE ON.

@MarkFein4 @ShadowJack64 @StevePalazzolo_ Barnes wasn't a regular starter until his 3rd year and wasn't an every down LB until this past season. Rodriguez was drafted the year after Barnes.
