A woman went under anaesthesia for cosmetic surgery. She woke up in pain and discovered she was raped so violently that her uvula was detached and had to be surgically removed. They found semen in her cervix. She is lesbian…. It was a textbook rape case but Miami police and prosecutors close the case. Another case of system failing woman.

In America you can expose yourself to a female service worker and send her to prison if she complains about it the wrong way. Alright

Existence unfolds through the tension of divine names, الرحمن (Mercy), العادل (Justice), الظاهر (the Manifest),الباطن(the Hidden), each Name calling forth its opposite not in contradiction, but in completion. Mercy softens what Justice measures, the Manifest reveals whats Hidden

“Say, I seek refuge in the lord of the daybreak From the evil of what he has created, From the evil of darkness when it enshrouds, from the evil of those who blow upon knots, and from the evil of the envier when he envies” —Quran , 113. (Surat al-falaq / chapter of the daybreak)

[Those content with the simple words of Scripture] carry a covering over their hearts, so as not to see that “the Lord is Spirit” (2 Cor 3:17), hidden within the letter, and that he says, “The letter kills, it is the Spirit that gives life!""

In Maximus the Confessor’s trial, the Monothelite bishop representing the heretical emperor appealled to Scripture’s plain, literal meaning or “simple words.” Maximus responded that this deference for literalism were “new rules for exegesis… foreign to the Church’s tradition.”

It’s important to understand patriarchy creates a sub division in women between “respectable” + non-“respectable” women (Madonna/whore) and that women can leverage this to make personally beneficial patriarchal bargains at the expense of other (often multiply marginalized) women.

@gothamshitty Here’s the quote I was thinking of. She notes exactly what you say: “it’s her, not me,” but she also makes certain to point out how this strategy can only “work” for so long… (Dworkin, Scapegoat, p. 127)

‘If it is a boy, let it live; if it is a girl, expose it.’ 📜 This is a letter a Roman soldier wrote to his wife in the 1st century BC it comes from a papyrus known as P.Oxy. 744, dated to 1st century BC Egypt (around 1 BCE), written by a man named Hilarion to his wife Alis while he was in Alexandria. "Hilarion to my dearest Alis, warmest greetings; and heartiest wishes to our dear Berous and Apollonarion. I want you to know that we are still in Alexandria. If the others return while I end up staying behind here, don’t you worry. I’m begging and pleading with you: please take good care of our little one. As soon as I get my pay, I’ll send it straight to you. If—and I wish you the best of luck with it—you give birth to a child: if it is a boy, let it live; if it is a girl, expose it. You sent word to me through our friend Aphrodisias, saying, 'Don’t forget me.' How could I ever forget you? So please, I’m asking you, don’t settle into worry."
