@LimerickMuseum Now known as the Abundant Life Center, we will stage the inaugural Catherine Hayes Singing Competition here in May this year . The great Catherine Hayes performed here in 1849 and 1850.

#OTD in 1922.. The Theatre Royal on Henry Street #Limerick City was destroyed by fire. It was built in 1844 by Joseph Fogerty, on a site previously used as a circus. In 1858 Charles Dickens took to the stage to read his "A Christmas Carol" at the theatre. #CharlesDickens

This was a cool moment after Dingle's All-Ireland final win ❤️ Poc ar Buile was blaring in Croke Park as the Dingle lads ran over to the fans. The singer of that song, Seán Ó Sé died last week. His funeral was in cork only on Friday. A fitting tribute.

Today in 1999.. Limerick-born footballer Thomas “Bud” Aherne passed away. Bud was on the Luton Town team that won promotion to Division One during the 1954–55 season, was capped for Ireland 16 times, and played for the Limerick Hurling Team once. #OTD #Limerick #soccer #Luton
