Republican BS hypocrisy: 1. Guns are safe! The real problems are bad people/mentally ill people. 2. Guns are not allowed at Repub rallies. Why? Is it because guns aren’t safe, or rally attendees are bad/mentally ill? All the above? The hypocrisy is so blatant & simplistic.

@wolfbearpack Oh I think there will almost definitely be a stoppage but I highly doubt they will lose an entire season...too much money at stake for both sides. That is why I haven't read any "consensus" for losing an entire season. 🤷‍♂️

@PEMdocResists Reading every article, that I can find on baseball websites, both real journalists, and various blowhards, the consensus (I.e. most) is that there will be an impasse. As a hard core Yankee fan since 1955. I hope that is not the case.

With Nico Hoerner off the board, the #Yankees SHOULD consider offering Jazz an extension now but they likely won't do it so they have a place to dump Volpe when Lombard takes the SS position next season.

@BillOC714 Yeah, same. He is an odd player to assess. Clearly he has high level skills, and I don't mind his swagger at all, but his consistency and focus are question marks. I truly have no real sense of how a long term contract will age with him. Hoerner gives me no such hesitation.

@TradingOlli @XekiHlongwane Partially true...they broke off from Citroen back in ~2014 and are now their own brand. So, not a "new" brand, but they aren't Citroen either...both are owned by Stellantis I believe.

@JErrrIIciooo I think he will still be solid, and I believe he is a very good player, but some players do have outlier "career years" that they don't replicate. I just find it funny that people freaked out at Judge's first game, but virtually nothing about Raleigh...

Cal Raleigh starting off the 2026 season 0-7 with 7 Ks is kind of funny to me. Feels like someone is about to fall back to earth a bit, huh?

@wolfbearpack I'm not trying to be jerky, but can you point me to a source that says the "consensus" of baseball reporters/owners/players or any informed group thinks the entire season will be lost? A stoppage is likely, but I haven't read anything that the "consensus" is losing entire season

@PEMdocResists Assumption? No. Consensus? Yes. Hope it doesn’t happen, but, it is the baseball business,

@asmartbrunette1 False. He met Lombardi at a dinner party thrown by George Washington, with other guests in attendance such as Abraham Lincoln,Thomas Jefferson, and Elvis Presley at which they all decided that Trump was the best President in history. You're welcome.

A 24-year-old real estate junior in outer-borough New York wasn't rubbing shoulders with a legendary NFL coach who spent most of his time in Wisconsin or D.C. and died suddenly. Lombardi was intensely private, focused on football, family, faith, and discipline—not the New York social or business scene where young Trump operated. If there had been any notable interaction (even a brief meeting), it almost certainly would have surfaced in decades of Trump coverage, Lombardi books, or NFL history. It hasn't. Lombardi was a hard-nosed disciplinarian with a temper, but he wasn't out brawling or committing violence. He was a devout Catholic who emphasized discipline, teamwork, and character alongside winning. Players respected (and often loved) him because the results spoke louder than the volume. @POTUS you had bone spurs remember?
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Trump: "I find that people that win, it's much easier to lead when you're successful. Vince Lombardi was a very tough person. He was a violent guy, actually. I knew him. But he won and he got away with things because he won."
