@Perro_Felix @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse It was hyperbole but you take my point. I don't know the stats on that stuff. I would rather pay for productive members of society and lower single motherhood rates than pay for the consequences.
English

@JohnGra41528444 @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse Investment should be incentivized, but so should "not under the counter" work, and no one's going to park their money in a mattress or zero-interest bank account because the tax on cap gains is too high. They're still going to invest it anyway
English

@Perro_Felix @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse Cap gains ARE less than the tax on labor specifically to encourage reinvestment into the US economy. Investing in stock market, building factories to create jobs. These are beneficial things.
English

@JohnGra41528444 @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse Hmm, but 15 year olds don't do that as much as they used to. That's why people have their hair on fire over the fact that we don't have as many pregnant 16 year olds as we used to.
English

Well, I'm gayer than you and so is my husband. Actually, he's gayer than me. He likes cats. I don't think you have to be a nice person, moral or decent to appreciate the simple fact that you can either pay (through taxation) to socialize and raise children properly, or pay for the cost of jail/prison/courts/ police later. AND, you know what 15 year olds who were raised poorly do when mom works 2 jobs and their tingly bits start to tingle.
English

@JohnGra41528444 @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse "After a certain point, wealth snowballs." Yeah, the capital gains tax shouldn't be less than the tax on labor. Once you claw to a certain point with luck, skill, and hard work, you can speculate in housing for very healthy returns for example. Shouldn't really be like that
English

But to be fair, encouraging investment through taxation benefits the country, and jobs, and the economy. And, as a friend of mine always says, "the first million is the hardest." Meaning, after a certain point, wealth snowballs. That doesn't make anyone evil and it's no motivation to tax them any more than they already are. The tax burden relative to income is pretty progressive with the bottom 50% paying like 2% of the tax revenue.
English

@JohnGra41528444 @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse It's not an either/or. A big portion of any new tax revenue should probably go toward fixing the debt, but incentives like low cost child care, child tax credits, I'm saying this as a gay guy with no kids, we can't keep a society where having kids throws most people into poverty
English

@Perro_Felix @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse Oh, no doubt there's a wealth disparity that is NOT a healthy indicator. But why not bring the bottom up rather than the top down?
English

@JohnGra41528444 @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse Lots of popular products were made in the past, and the founders, CEO's, executives, did not make nearly the salary they did as a ratio to workers as they do now. It was not even this bad a century ago, and we needed the new deal to fix it then. epi.org/publication/ce…
English

@Perro_Felix @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse yeah, I don't agree with you about Reaganomics though it didn't work out due to the banking industry. Elon Musk made a product that was super popular and sold it to a lot of Enviro-NAZI types. That's got nothing to do with taxes and everything to do with making a popular product.
English

@JohnGra41528444 @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse Actually yes, in the 70's. I didn't mean to imply a direct link to Reaganomics, though once the rich got richer it got easier for them to keep that status quo by aggressively lobbying for things like Right to Work laws.
English

@Perro_Felix @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse But didn't productivity drop off starting earlier than that?
English

@JohnGra41528444 @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse "US should have gotten off oil during the Carter admin." 💯 But instead Reagan 'made American great again' by ripping Carter's solar panels off the white house.
English

@BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse Oh, no. Not meant to sound genocidal in the least. In fact, to save all the people who died as a consequence of the Islamic threat, I mean CIA should have killed Yasser Arafat. US should have gotten off oil during the Carter admin.
English

@JohnGra41528444 @BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse Ronald Reagan told me it'd be trickling down instead of evaporating . That's why he cut the tax rates of the richest from 70% to 28%. Instead of a trickle, Elon Musk has $800B and no one can afford anything because after 1980 $ from productivity gains stopped going to labor.
English

@BreakingBraavos @AntiquarianMuse One wonders where all the money evaporates to.
English

@tommysantos14 Wait, "Engagement farming and bait is against X's ToS."?? Then why is Elon's algorithm sending me 99% THAT?
English

Actually, Cindy, being an American PRECISELY MEANS you can stand against the American president.
Kind of a basic tenet of being an American. It's a little frightening you don't know that.
Cindy K@MAGAMAHACindy
You can’t be American and stand against the President.
English

@JrLesage @grok @politvidchannel This last part, "inequality grew and debt ballooned" is what the article means when it says "50 years of tax cuts for the rich failed to trickle down"
English

@bdomenech You couldn't even force your wife to take your last name, and you still call yourself a proper caveman. I mean, alpha male.
English

@OllyParramore @Itx_judith You can call it Men’s Health Month, National Safety Month, Immigrant Heritage Month, Great Outdoors Month, or National Dairy Month. Actually it is all those things already. Give June another moniker if you want; it'll still be Pride month too.
English

@Itx_judith Yes!
We should replace pride month with literally anything else.
👏

@aj_inapi "How worse can your life be given the last 4 years under Biden?" I think we're *already* seeing how worse it can be under this administration.
English

Dear Conservatives,
President Trump has ONLY 3 years left to finish what he started and then hand over the reigns to the next person in line.
You have two midterm cycles to help him achieve those goals - 2026 and 2028.
While things may not be perfect and to the liking of some of you, the alternative is worse.
Just give the man the leverage he needs and the history books will judge his Presidency.
How worse can your life be given the last 4 years under Biden?
Look past the headlines and policies and don't fall in the trap of acquiring TDS. There's no returning from that especially when you're a Conservative.
Yours sincerely
AJ

@Biddy24890262 @j_springs @L08818 @TheDibsterX @nnwmike If you don't believe in Papal infallibility, then you're not a real Catholic. Cafeteria Catholic or cultural Catholic maybe.
English

@j_springs @L08818 @TheDibsterX @nnwmike I'm Catholic, but we also have to call out the Popes Selective critisms. Has he even said anything against the January massacre of Iranians?
English

I’m a Catholic
I didn’t like the last pope
I like this one even less
No one voted for the pope to lead the United States
If it were up to him we’d have no borders - while he resides inside a walled Vatican
I’ve said from the jump that we were robbed when they installed this guy
I’ve been praying someone would stand up to the pope
I was thrilled to see President Trump’s response to the pope
I stand w President Trump and American sovereignty
English

@L08818 If you don't believe in Papal infallibility you're not really a true Catholic.
English

@smith_cade9 @BuckeyePolitic1 If you don't believe in Papal infallibility, you're not a true Catholic. Just a cultural one. A cafeteria Catholic.
English

One of the best takes Ive heard on the issue. I am a staunch Catholic and I love my faith. I disagree with the Pope on multiple matters. I am a diehard Republican and I think Trump posting himself as Jesus is absolutely wrong and he just shouldn't bother engaging with the Pope. I will still support Republicans and be a strong Catholic.
English

@WellsJorda89710 Of course he's carrying out God's will. Just like Peter Sutcliffe, Albert Fish, Ron and Dan Lafferty, Samuel Little, Joseph Kallinger, Herb Mullin, Jeffrey Lundgren, and Michael Ryan did.
English

🚨Trump Isn’t Calling Himself Jesus — He’s Answering God’s Call🚨
Trump isn’t calling himself Jesus.
He’s been crystal clear from the beginning: he believes he’s doing the work God has set before him.
Jesus’ disciples healed the sick in His name.
With Christ in us, we can do His works too.
I have no problem with this — I lay hands on sick people and pray for them all the time.
The people outraged by this are just looking for something to be mad about. Trump is openly praying for the sick — and as Protestants, we still believe in the power of prayer.
It’s that simple.

English

@mike1010011 @FmrRepMTG The KKK was famously anti-Catholic too. Certain flavors of American protestants have always felt this way.
English

On Orthodox Easter, President Trump attacked the Pope because the Pope is rightly against Trump’s war in Iran and then he posted this picture of himself as if he is replacing Jesus.
This comes after last week’s post of his evil tirade on Easter and then threatening to kill an entire civilization.
I completely denounce this and I’m praying against it!!!

English

@para3tamol @MarindaVannoy1 "Islamist LEFTists" of 1979??? Come on, that kind of trolling is just too transparent.
English

@MarindaVannoy1 The left always been violent. Back in 79 when the Islamist leftist took over my country Iran, they didn’t show mercy to anyone. They killed and killed until every dissident voice was silenced.
