Planning a new 250 sq. ft. native garden expansion. No timeline set but I'd like to have the grass removed by the end of next month. If I say it's for #America250 can we convince everyone across the country to add 250 sq. ft. of native plant habitat to their yards?

I counted nine frogs in my garden pond last night. Seven green frogs, two bullfrogs.

It makes perfect sense that the first day of spring is when I find the first sign of growth from my winter-sown seeds in milk jugs. Zig zag goldenrod is the first to germinate.

Glad to see the redhead is still at the pond. I was able to get a little better look at it today.

Growing quite a few new-to-me native plants this year! Here's four of them. I started these indoors. I also have more currently being stratified outdoors.

Neighborhood wildlife. Eastern gray squirrel, European starlings, and a northern cardinal.

Some duck activity at the local pond. I think the redhead is a first for me! Quite a few buffleheads as well, and of course a mallard.

@neutrinosky No recommendations in particular for plugs. Most of the plants I have came in 3" pots from my local Wild Ones native plant sale or as seed from Prairie Moon Nursery in Minnesota. You can look into Prairie Nursery in Wisconsin, although I've never purchased anything from them.

There was a Cooper's hawk in my neighbors tree for about 30 minutes this afternoon.

@hisgaldeb I don't know why I didn't try to grow rosinweed before now. I always enjoy seeing them in prairies. Also working on adding more Eryngium - yuccifolium in my case.

@PlantNativeWI I ended up with a Rosin weed in my front garden bed that was mainly daylilies, Liatris, & Eryngium Thistle(yeah I'm a sucker for blue) ! It stuck out Tall & Proud! But I didn't dare move it.

@DisoRientedKat Cannot wait until I get to see it bloom. Until then, I should get to see showy goldenrod bloom for the first time this year, so I'm excited for that.
