Many remarkable moments in the Pog story but that took the cake. MSR was a sort of quasi-religious crusade, more than just a goal, but it had also become an unsolvable maths problem. Seemed everything had to go right - & yet he did it when all seemed to turn fatally against him.

@AtheistCyclist1 @friebos So, he probably would've won the sprint. 2 scenarios: 1- pull out from the draft at the same speed as your competitor, but 1 bike length behind him, or 2- get a run at them in the draft, and have a 3-5 mph speed differential before pulling out into the wind. Which is better?

@birria_Energy @looflol Yep, or if he'd laid off by a length or two and accelerated into the draft before pulling over to pass. It's very difficult to move over into the draft, while doing the same speed as your opponent, and make up a bike length.

I don’t think it’s quite sunk in what Tadej Pogacar did to win that:
- Crashed hard
- Caught back up
- Set a new Cipressa record
- Did the majority of the work in the valley
- Dropped Mvdp on the Poggio
- Put time into the peloton too
- Out-descended and out sprinted Pidcock

@aplaceholderig If only Pidcock knew the trick of laying off by a bike length or two and accelerating while still in the draft. When you finally pop out into the wind, you have a 3-5 mph speed advantage. Coming directly off the wheel at the same speed with a bike length to make up is too much

I’m pretty excited to see how Milan San Remo plays out tomorrow. So much is obvious (the favorites, their strengths, the places they have to make their moves) but it will be interesting to see what happens in the race.
Will the favorites cancel each other out and will someone else take the win? Will one of the favorites have a bad day opening up a big win for another? Will a positioning mistake of a favorite play a roll?
What are you guys hoping for from the race?!

It requires MVDP to be on the downswing of his career which will likely happen by 2028 or 2029.
But even if he never wins Roubaix or MSR he will still win more Monuments in total. He is invincible at LBL and Lombardia and close to it at RVV.
