i only recently learned that lighting techs at bigger venues have a software that links to CDJ screens and can see exactly what djs are doing, when they’re looping, when a drop is coming etc so they can time the lighting with the music.. i thought they were just going off vibes

@jedwill i've been told it's because the VJ is often the last person they call or close to last person they call. probably because there's no point in calling me if they don't know if the rest of the show is ready to go/able to accommodate a VJ.
