And he does not just pass it. He owns it with a frightening ease. That is when you realise you are not watching a performance. You are witnessing mastery. This is, without a doubt, the finest performance of his career. And that is saying something because his career is filled with performances that set the standard. But this stands above all of them. The opening stretch of the film, with Ranveer as a young Jaskirat, is among the finest pieces of acting I have seen in mainstream Indian cinema. This performance will be remembered. It has already etched its place in the history of Indian cinema. And for those who stood by him, who believed in him when the noise was against him, this feels personal. Because it was personal as he said. This is not just his moment. This is ours. We are watching the best actor of this generation and one of the greatest actors Indian cinema has ever seen, operating at his absolute peak. And his name is Ranveer Singh.

Watched it again. The second viewing experience was even better. Yes, it is not flawless but it still manages to give you one of the greatest cinematic experiences you can have. The bar is set so high that we may not witness a duology like this again for ages. Even after the film ended, not a single person in my theatre walked out during the mid credits montage. That tells you everything about how deeply people are connected to this film and to Jaskirat Singh Rangi. Even after four hours, you still want more. You just want to stay in that world a little longer. That is what makes it special. Take a bow, Aditya Dhar for giving us this masterpiece of a duology.
