🚨 I-5 NB Traffic Alert 🚨 A landslide at milepost 249 just south of Bellingham has caused a full closure of the northbound lanes. ⚠️ @wsdot_north has a detour at the N Lake Samish Road exit MP246. Please use caution while responders work to clear the roadway.

UPDATE 10:21 PM: Northbound traffic is being diverted off NB I-5 at N Lk Samish Dr (MP 246). We have no estimate when lanes will reopen. Please expect delays.

Update 9:48 PM : On I-5 northbound just north of N Lk Samish Dr (MP 248) there are fallen tree(s) blocking all lanes.

UPDATE #2: SR 20/North Cascades Hwy remains blocked at Diablo Lake, 4 miles west of the seasonal closure, until further notice. The slope is stable, but the magnitude of 200 ft rocks in the road is significant. Our crews are working on a plan to remove them from the highway.

UPDATE: SR 20 is blocked east of Newhalem (MP 130) due to rocks in the roadway. Some of these rocks measure over 200 ft long. Traffic can turn around at Colonial Creek. Geotech engineers need to complete their assessment before rock removal can begin. Expect delays @wspd7pio

Environment Canada has issued a yellow-level Rainfall Warning for Fraser Valley West, including Abbotsford, with a prolonged period of heavy rain expected through Friday morning.
