Look what I found! In the early development of Total DramaRama these were the 14 kids selected to be in the daycare. The animation team begged us to go with 8 or 10 max, we settled on 12. 🤣 Then Jude became 1 of those 12. Lightning and Sugar were eventually added for season 3.
