Since the Strait of Hormuz is in discussion, here’s a piece of Indian Muslim history tied to it. When the Portuguese captured Hormuz in 1507, they used it as a base to launch a major attack on the Muzaffarid Sultanate in 1521. Sultan Muzaffar Shah II defeated them.
