Apparently, Nats coaches are now using tennis rackets instead of fungos to hit fly balls to their outfielders. This is really the point in baseball, where you’ve gotta sit there and go holy crap. We need more baseball people and less nerds teaching this game.

If you say you want to play at the next level, your actions have to match your words. Spring break is part of our season. Games and practices during that time are just as important as any others. When you choose a vacation over being available for your high school team’s baseball/softball games, you are letting your team down—no matter the reason. Your teammates are counting on you. Coaches build lineups, strategies, and chemistry based on who is committed and available. If you’re serious about playing at the next level, you don’t disappear during the season. This doesn’t mean family trips are “bad,” but it does mean you must be honest about your priorities: If you choose vacation during the season, that is your choice—but it will affect your role, playing time, and how your commitment is viewed. If you choose your team, then be present. Be reliable. Be someone your teammates and coaches can trust. Don’t say you’re “all in” and then vanish when it’s inconvenient. Commitment is shown by what you do, not what you say.

Ashbrook goes for its fourth win of the season tonight against Berry out of Charlotte. 4 wins, big deal! Yes it is a big deal. Ashbrook, the last 3 seasons have won just four games all year accumulating a 12 and 57 record. The fourth win of the season is one of our very first goals that we must accomplish. We lost tonight just st a beat down, poor maturity, poor focus, the boys were defeated before the game started, they were more concerned about it being cold, they had zero fight in my 14 years of coaching high school H ball I have never got my ass kicked like that. A very personal low.

I’m scouting a game since I suddenly have an open date for no real reason. The pitcher is absolutely all over the place. Fixable I definitely could fix him. Dad in the stands to the umpires strike zone “ I guess he wants it on a tee?” Parents I know you love your kids, but come on.

We got our teeth kicked in today. Honestly we did it to ourselves. As a coach of a rebuilding program you have to praise the good fix the bad and keep the ship afloat. We did a lot of things poorly tonight but these kids felt pressure things were going well and then it fell apart. The key now is to be able to reset re-attack and get these kids on Friday 5:00 at Hunter Huss High School! Let’s go GreenWave @GreenWaveBase
