QUEEN CRAB was my first creator owned full adult graphic novel. I wrote it for an artist named Artiz Eiguren that I thought had a unique grounded style I liked. The book itself is 48 pages of story, and about another 20 pages of additional material. It is a hardcover that became my first Kickstarter way back in 2012 then by Image comics right after. Queen Crab is a surreal, darkly humorous graphic novel that blends body‑horror, revenge, and psychological drama. The story follows Ginger, a young woman stuck in a monotonous life—until her wedding night, when her husband tries to murder her by throwing her overboard during a honeymoon cruise. She survives thanks to a mysterious force, but wakes up transformed. It was something different from me and I had a blast with the great reception I had with it. It was a personal milestone that taught me if its good and interesting, people will have interest. I was tired of Superheroes at the time, I wanted to do something different. My favorite quote from a reviewer at MTV was this: “QUEEN CRAB is one of the most important graphic novels I’ve read about the female experience in quite some time.” She really loved it. So yeah, some sex, violence and a wild story and it got talked about. I have at the Paperfilms store copies of the hardcover.
