Multi-talented Zimbabwean entertainer Babongile Skhonjwa Moyo, known for his outstanding work as a radio personality, DJ, MC, socialite and comedian, has died. He was 49. The cause of death is not yet known. Popularly known as Skhonjwa, he was a larger-than-life character, especially in his Bulawayo home town. Almost everyone in Bulawayo knew him wherever he went. He was a man of the people; generally a friend to everyone. After building a reputation in Bulawayo where he worked for Skyz Metro FM, Skhonjwa joined Star FM in Harare in late 2023, stepping into a position vacated by DJ Ollah 7. Previously, he hosted the popular "Vuka Vuka" breakfast show on Skyz Metro FM, leaving the station in 2019 to focus on his entertainment business. In-between, he did some work for Nkululeko Rusununguko Television (NRTV). With vast experience in the media and entertainment industry, Skhonjwa was an affable character, vibrant and humorous comedian who hosted some of the biggest events in Zimbabwe. Significantly, he was a top-class Master of Ceremonies (MC), sound engineer and featured in some songs. He played in Bulawayo clubs as a DJ for years. In the process, he was involved in restaurant/club business. Skhonjwa's great work over the years earned him several accolades, including a National Arts Merit Award for Outstanding Radio Presenter and a Bulawayo Arts Award for Outstanding Radio DJ, among others. Bulawayo will not be the same without him.
