@garyalsmith You're a public servant, Mantse, you're just not employed by the govt. The work you do gives a window into what other people paid by taxpayers are doing so the public can be aware enough to use that info to make society better. Problem is our society hasn't realised that.

Amusing how I've been caught in the crossfire of just showing up to do my job as much as I have this World Cup. This video sums it up. 😃 No matter how many questions you ask in the 2/3 minutes you are given, somebody in Zabzugu Fankyenekɔ will say why did you not ask this or that? I am not even a public servant, nobody pays their taxes to me, but they treat you like demma money dey your der! 😂 It's all part of the job. The trick is to never take it personally — as provocative as some of the comments can be.

Same Jordan! Last week, after the Croatia game at the mixed zone, I was interviewing Baba when Jordan passed. I called him, he acknowledged, but walked to the others waiting in line, because he obviously couldn’t wait for me to finish with Baba before coming to him. By the time I was done with Baba, he was also done with rest and was leaving. I ran to call him, and he was gracious enough to come back and grant me an exclusive chat. Knowing how mixed zone interviews go, you know that’s a big deal. Great chat, asked him all relevant questions, conceived angles for an exclusive article for @Olympics etc. When I finally finished up and said my thank you and came to end the video, I realised I hadn’t been recording the entire time. So when I pressed the button to stop it, I had in fact only just started the recording. And it captured this glorious one second before I ended it with all the shame and disappointment of a heartbroken fella. My entire evening was ruined that day!
