Cam Newton is his own man. As we discussed on text, I don’t get to tell him who can be on his show.
So, I’ll talk about how I want to conduct business. I want to have integrity, exhibit loyalty, & live by foundational principles of decency. I won’t platform someone that spews hate, & especially not someone who has done so about people I consider friends. I won’t seek, instigate, or create a space for messiness & gossip. I want to be impactful, intentional, & necessary. I’m focused on me!

Eric, that’s a fair question — and I’m sure others have wondered the same thing. Between CBS Mornings, NFL Today, Hollywood Squares, and Nickelodeon’s Slime Time, I know it can look like I’m everywhere but home. But truth is, my family has always been — and will always be — my priority.
If there’s a football, basketball, or volleyball game — school fundraiser, or parent-teacher conference, I’ll move a shoot to be there. For example, this year my daughter’s playing varsity volleyball, and I’ve made about 90% of her games. My boys will tell you I wasn’t just on the sidelines for their games — I was their coach from little league through high school.
Yeah, that means plenty of late nights and early mornings — but I’ve learned how to maximize every day on about five and a half hours of sleep.
And when it comes to my wife, we make time for each other — at least one date a week. Sometimes dinner out, sometimes me cooking at home, but always connection.
Another way I make sure we stay close — even during my busiest stretches — is by bringing my family with me whenever I can. Whether it’s a work trip, an event, or a shoot out of state, I’ll fly them out or plan for them to join me so that even when I’m on the road, we still feel at home together.
So yes, it might seem like I’m doing everything, everywhere, all at once — but the truth is, my family means everything to me, all of the time. They come first. And don’t get me wrong, the money’s good… just never at the cost of showing up for them because success doesn’t mean much if the people you love don’t feel your presence.

@nateburleson Just watched your interview about the NFL this weekend and at the end you say “see you tomorrow in Buffalo”. Do you ever stay home with your beautiful family? The money doesn’t replace the time spent with those who love you the most.
