The entire point of FFH is Peter overcoming his own self doubt.

he is sixteen years old and his father figure died right in front of him after he died for five years. he literally just wanted a break for a week to be a normal teen and hang out with his crush. & eventually he learns thats not possible anyways and accepts the responsibility!
