An Edmonton resident has been charged with fraud after police say he was altering odometers on used vehicles purchased through Facebook Marketplace and reselling them at inflated prices. Harmandeep Singh Bindra, 39, faces charges of fraud and uttering a forged document following an investigation that began in March 2026. Police allege Bindra has been buying high-mileage Nissan Altimas, Honda Accords, and Honda CRVs on Facebook Marketplace since March 2025, rolling back odometers by hundreds of thousands of kilometres, and listing the vehicles for sale under a fake Facebook account. Investigators say he also provided buyers with false CARFAX reports to back up the fraudulent readings. He is known to use the aliases Hary Smith, Harry Singh, Harmandeep Singh, and Gurdev.
