Jacob was a wonderful son, brother, teammate and friend. My family has had the privilege of being a part of his life. His character and heart, immeasurable. His talent and leadership made every team he played on, at every level, better. Rest Cobs. You fought a helluva fight.

Level 3 risk today across the Mid-Mississippi and Ohio Valleys. Supercells are expected this afternoon with very large hail early on, then a fast-moving squall line bringing damaging winds and tornadoes into the evening. Temps in the low 80s with dewpoints near 60 in late March is serious fuel. We'll be going live later to track this one.

Three years ago tonight, at nearly the exact time that I am uploading this post, Rolling Fork, Mississippi was impacted head on by a high end EF4 tornado. 17 fatalities, 165 injuries, and entire neighborhoods leveled, with well built structures swept away. To this day, it is the scariest night of my life. The roar of the tornado was so intense that I ended up filming it from about 7 miles to the south, as I had lost all cell signal while approaching it from the south on Highway 61 near Cary and could not confirm its location on radar. I arrived in town minutes after the tornado had hit, and people were in need of help everywhere. It did not help that critical infrastructure there was severely damaged, like the fire and police department. The entire community came together that night to provide help and search and rescue efforts, including so many dedicated storm chasers. Also that night, through the tunnel of darkness, came a puppy dog covered in insulation and debris, with her collar torn up almost like she chewed it off to free herself from the rubble. That puppy (Zero) is now a legend amongst the community and has helped me get through more than you will ever know. She was just a little puppy on the night we brought her into our lives, and while we will never know her official birthday, it is only fair that it is March 24, 2023. Rolling Fork will forever have a huge place in my heart, and I mean it when I say not a day goes by that I do not think about that night and the community there. #RollingForkStrong ❤️

Today my dad got a knock on the door he did not expect. Two weeks ago I messaged his boss about getting Thursday off work to which he excitedly allowed and with the slow weather pattern I booked my plane ticket and surprised him with hand delivered tickets to the Cincinnati Reds opening day! Something we’ve always wanted to go to, but have never been able to with chasing and other work obligations. Absolutely can not wait, and his reaction at the door was already worth every second of coming home.
