@Oz718Ry @ddubxdo That's a different argument. I agree Luka's degree of difficulty from an opponent standpoint was higher. My point of contention was dismissing the performance bc of the 4Q while ignoring the other 3.

His dream is not factually correlated to Elbaf. His dream existed BEFORE he met Dory & Brogy. Those 2 & the culture of the giants served as inspiration and a point of reference to what a Brave Warrior of the Sea looked like in his eyes. But that does not directly correlate to Elbaf being the place that dream derives from, culminates at, or significantly impacts said dream. This is WHY y'all are so disappointed. You correlate things that don't naturally & expect Oda to connect dots he never intended to.

Given how long it’s been since he’s had relevance to the plot it’s not enough to satisfy people’s expectations

You read a 16 year old story where the "main characters" are side characters that take a backseat to the arc-centric cast that impact the overarching big picture of the plot & every step of the way you expect small scale character arcs from 16 years ago. Why? -The "main characters" literally have gone MULTIPLE arc not even present. -You saw Zoro go to Wano where he derives from, his swords derives from, & the dude he defeated to get the swords derives from...and he dgaf about any of it. -You saw Franky go to the island of the guy who inspired him technologically & he literally didn't do shit bc the macro plot was far more important given the fallout from Wano/Lulusia/Reverie. -No SH has gotten the type of focus you're entailing save for Sanji in WCI bc some of the antags were arc-centric cast aligned with a Yonkou. So heaven forbid ppl STOP expecting new crewmates every arc, full fledged SH fights, and arc-specific character arcs for the SHs from a man who keeps showing you for going on 2 decades he's NOT writing that kind of story anymore.

Ima be real, idk even know if there's more to come. I just blew himself to hell & the main showdown is about to occur. But to your point he DID SOMETHING. It may not have worked in terms effectiveness but it worked in terms of characterization. Which should be enough, but it won't be.

Funny how it went from "Usopp hasn't done anything in 10 years" to "It didn't lead to anything tho" There is more to come and we'll see what yall say then.

He attacked & directly challenged Imu. For a character who is the most cowardly & insecure in the story, he acted bravely in a moment that wasn't required simply bc he felt overwhelmed by his sense of bravery being insulted by someone a trillion x stronger than him. Momo's attack on Kaidou when he dropped Luffy off didn't do shit. But it was a moment for his character bc of what it represented.

I'm not trying to convince you he can't. he 1000% could've dedicated portions of this arc to developing Usopp. I'm telling you he never intended to & y'all only think he was bc you've been thirsty for pre-TS SH-centric character writing that has only happened once for 1/2 arc over 16 years.

Mismanaged expectations plague OPX. Pre-TS SH focused character writing hasn't been prevalent for 16 years.

It’s a good speech (minus the part of him being lowkey hypocritical) but him getting a speech isn’t anything new he’s been doing it for all his major moments . People don’t want him to just be a speech merchant they want him to actually play a significant role in the arc that’s not just “let me get cooked so x character gets mad and does something instead of me”
