Pakistan is the White House-chosen mediator and the WH agreed to Pakistan's terms! And they specifically, explicitly include Lebanon. Including for the US and "its allies."

The White House asked Pakistan to mediate the ceasefire talks, and Pakistan’s PM announced: “I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.” Israel has carried out large scale massacres in Lebanon since, and Trump has apparently approved of this. Iran saying the strait is now closed again as a result of this treachery. Has there ever been a pair of countries less trustworthy than the U.S. and Israel?

Iran has been consistent and clear that any ceasefire or peace deal must include Lebanon, and any observer should assume Iran will not abandon Hezbollah after the group’s loyalty against ISIS, and now in this current war. Hez has distinguished itself as the best light infantry force in the region, and Iran’s deterrent depends on the loyalty of its regional allies. If Trump allows Israel to continue pounding Lebanon, the war will resume, simple as that. Peace is on the table. Iran and the Trump administration clearly want it. If Israel doesn’t want it, it’s not our problem, and Trump should let them fight their own war.

Given Israel's attack on Lebanon today, I don't know how anyone can fail to see it as a rogue state that actively seeks war with its neighbours, works against peaceful resolutions, cares nothing for basic morality or international law, and is completely untrustworthy in geopolitics. That's to say nothing of its abhorrent and abusive relationship with America.

The number of these casualties in Lebanon will increase significantly. But even if this causality number were the final toll -- and again, it will increase a lot -- this would be the equivalent of six 9/11 attacks for a country of Lebanon's size.
