@4thOfJuly365 The misconception that we Catholics worship Mary is in the misguided idea held by Protestants that prayer is worship. We revere, venerate and honor the Blessed Mother. We ask her, and the rest of the saints, to pray for us, just as we ask each other to pray for us.

Me personally I don't understand it. I feel like he is being idolized and is a made up figure who is never once mentioned in the Bible. Kinda like confession, praying to Mary and saints and purgatory.

To any Catholics who see this post and to anyone else who would like to chime in: I have a real question for you — why is there such a strong admiration for the Pope in your faith? I'd genuinely like to have a respectful conversation about it.

Primarily because he is the Vicar of Christ on Earth. He isn’t elected by the cardinals alone, but by the Holy Spirit, which comes upon the cardinals during the conclave. Thus, he is chosen by the influence of the Holy Spirit, has direct apostolic succession from Saint Peter the Apostle, and is the mouthpiece for truth in a world full of lies.
