@dmtrubman The scale and amount of new buildings going up in the core of State College PA over the last ~5 years seems to be a great example of this (with rental vacancy rates going from 1-2 % to closer to 5%. (A 📸 thread).

Having published 100+ papers on sensory perception, and trained 20+ grad students who now have highly lucrative jobs in the food and FMCG industries as Sensory & Consumer Scientists, this narrow minded teacher really needs to re-examine their assumptions about “Science”.
