"Where Liberty rises, there virtue grows, wealth increases ...and in strength and spirit the freer nation rises... Where Liberty sinks, there virtue fades, ...and empires once mighty in arms and arts become a helpless prey to freer barbarians!" - Henry George, "Ode to Liberty"

@BoucherBur45960 The only fair system is the single tax. We have to abolish ALL taxation except on land ownership in order to have free enterprise and equal economic opportunity (land access). This is what the classical economists were advocating. Neo-classical economics is a fraud. #SingleTax

@TaxLandNotMan Ok. I get it. One of the biggest injustices is double tax rate on business/ landlords resulting in unfair rents. So moving tax to land could carry forward injustices and government addicted to revenue punishes modest homes, lower income.

Labor is kept as cheap as possible by keeping land, everyone's daily source of life via sleep, as expensive as possible. Zero goods or services are created by land price speculation, yet the tax system is designed to keep land speculation profitable. There IS an alternative.

“I work nonstop — and I still can’t pay my bills.” A young American broke down describing the stress of working nonstop and still falling behind. Rent. Bills. Food. No path forward. This is crushing young Americans.

It needs to be made clear that land value is created by the whole community. Take away the community and land value disappears. It follows that a land value tax is a just return to the community as a whole for the value it creates by its mere existence.
TAX LAND, NOT MAN@TaxLandNotMan

@UziCryptoo Failure to pay income tax won't just make you a renter, it will make you a prison inmate. Meanwhile, everyone needs land, so paying a land value tax to prevent land monopolization and land price speculation is fair. Also, land value isn't created by the owner, but by others.

@BoucherBur45960 Unfortunately, almost everywhere, the property tax on improvements is the same rate as on land. But this is illogical and unfair. Taxing improvements punishes wealth production, but taxing land discourages price speculation, which keeps rents and home prices artificially high.

I co-introduced historic legislation to increase the minimum wage to $25. As someone who taught economics at Stanford, here is why it makes sense. The real minimum wage was $14 in 1968. Today it is half, but productivity has increased 2.5x. Instead of extractive capitalism, we need a free enterprise system that pays workers what they are worth.

It wouldn't be necessary to teach people about debt if they were taught the basic principles of economics and the history of economic thought. I was today years old when I realized the reason financial leteracy isn't taught in school isn't an oversight. A population that understands compound interest, credit utilization, tax brackets, and salary negotiation is harder to exploit. The curriculum was a choice.

The system is based on land ownership, just like every economic system ever. Without equal access to land, everyone's daily source of life via sleep, the many will be slaves to the few no matter what kind of monetary policy or social safety net there is. The only fair system is the single tax.

Boomers needed ~2 years of an average household income ($10K in 1970) to pay for an average house ($20K in 1970). Millennials needed ~3years of an average household income ($40K in 2000) to pay for an average house ($120K in 2000). Gen Z needs ~4 years of an average household income ($90K in 2026) to pay for an average house ($360K in 2026). You have to work twice as hard or twice as long to have the same living standards. Broken system.

@UziCryptoo Treating land like capital turns society into cattle. If land tax isn't high enough, investors will buy it all and sit on it until workers pay them all we can afford. Sound familiar? That's the current system. It's neo-feudalism marketed as freedom, not genuine economic freedom.

Taxed. Die? Still taxed. And what do they do with it? Waste it. This has to stop - our money & our future are being taxed into oblivion.

@karlykingsley The problem isn't how tax money is spent but how it is collected. Focusing on the former rather than the latter is part of the reason things haven't changed in a hundred years. If we want efficiency and fairness, we need to tax resource (location) usage, not wealth production.

@ABujnicki It's an objective observation. Single-taxers don't blame people for adapting to the incentives created by the current tax system. We are just advocating for basic economics to be taught in public school so that people will learn how to make the system better.

@TaxLandNotMan And I would suppose you are the judge as to what is fair, efficient, or sustainable? Certainly the people who are trading for access to some land believe the trade was fair and the result efficient, otherwise the trade would not have gone through.

I'm open-minded, but I can't see how the single tax isn't the perfect economic system. And when people try to prove otherwise, the best argument seems to be that fairness, efficiency and sustainability are inferior goals to the maximum extraction of wealth from society and the ecosystem as fast as possible by investors.

@TaxLandNotMan I understand that you are not advocating for Marxism, I actually understand your beliefs perfectly. Am I allowed to sell oxygen for breathing? Henry George would agree you can. The idea that some things are "necessary" is not a Georgist talking point

@rexjonesnewz The reason they don't teach basic economics or the history of economic thought in public school is to prevent awareness of the land issue. Once the public learns that land should be treated differently than capital, homelessness will disappear and wages will skyrocket.

Land is like oxygen, a time-sensitive biological necessity for every human body. I am advocating the single tax, the abolition of all taxation except on land ownership. This is what Adam Smith advocated, not what Karl Marx advocated. The original "laissez faire" economists were advocating "l 'impot unique" (the single tax), just like me. That's true free enterprise, not Marxism. There's no individual liberty without equal access to land, everyone's daily source of life via sleep. We will either live on a neo-feudalist plantation or we will have the single tax.

@PhilipProudfoot The difference between land and labor is the basis of classical economics. But we are taught neo-classical economics because treating land like capital turns society into cattle. Deception of the public regarding economics is what keeps labor as cheap as possible. #SingleTax

@YourAnonNews It's not free enterprise, it's a plantation. Ignoring the land issue is how people are taught to blame freedom for poverty instead of blaming the tax system. Centralization of money and power is not the solution to the centralization of money and power. #HenryGeorge, #SingleTax

@BoucherBur45960 If there were zero taxes or regulations, the price of land would still capture every penny users can afford to pay for it as long as land can be owned as a store of value. Land prices will never be minimized until the tax on land ownership is high enough to make it a burden.

The difference between land and labor is the basis of classical economics. Taxing land has the opposite effect of taxing improvements. Taxing land encourages development while taxing improvements discourages it. There is a perfect tax system, the single tax, which is what the classical economists were advocating from the beginning as the alternative to feudalism.

@TaxLandNotMan @OrevaZSN I really don't think you understand taxes. When govt spends, it doesn't spend taxes - that's a Thatcher lie, and not what they're for. Govt is a sovereign currency-issuer & can just issue what we need.
