I really don’t like early kick offs on Saturday, especially after an away game in Europe. But the game is at home, against Bournemouth who we do struggle against. We will need to be resolute and positive. It’s going to be the turning point and in my opinion, a title decider #AFC
Waking up this morning, still very disappointed and the lack of sleep shows it. Let’s see what happens with the first XI in place. I am concerned about the conditioning of the players, the mentality around the club, the fans being toxic, but all of this is part of winning #AFC
@stanly14@Glovebox84@chand1995@GuillemBalague And you are just setting yourself up with standards that are not achievable, hence why you’re so strongly opinionated. Arsenal have never won the CL, it’s a lottery, like any cup competition. CL is another level up. PL title has always been the holy grail this year.
@Glovebox84@chand1995@GuillemBalague No chance. PSG, Barcelona, Bayern aren’t happy with just a QF. Any club who wants to compete with the very best are not happy with just a QF. You are getting your facts mixed up.
The treble/quadruple Arsenal talk started in January if not before
That's setting an impossible bar that's been reached almost never in football history.
If they win the Premier League, that IS a massive success. Reaching the CL quarter-finals, on the back of the semis last year, IS success. They are growing.
Comparing them to the greatest sides in history and then criticise them every time they fall short, more than holding them to high standards, is IMO just a way to deny them credit for what they're actually achieving.
Having said that, today is certainly a disappointment.
Both statements are true.
@AFCMet I remember watching that team and when that team came on the pitch, I had utter confidence that we would win comfortably. With this team, absolutely not. We aren’t just playing against football clubs, we are now playing against our mental state. League is touch and go now.
It’s not to bring up the past. But we had a very similar experience in 2004.
Lost to United in the cup and Chelsea in the UCL in the same week.
We all know what happened next.
You want to be champions? Produce the big moment
Raya
Timber Saliba Gabriel Calafiori
Ode Zubi Rice
Saka Gyokeres Trossard
Need to see that team like up vs Sporting and put in a performance and get the result. Half of those guys should be pretty fresh.
@StopthatMessi_@theEpicGooner Yes I agree but this is a cup competition. Anyone can beat anyone and when it comes to April and May, Arsenal regularly lose themselves when it matters most. It’s a mentality issue, nothing else.
@TheBimal@theEpicGooner Arsenal will be better with strongest team. But even with weak side they should be won in the end they got to 1-1 should controlled the game
@TikiTakaConnor No. Massive game against Bournemouth next Saturday. We have a chance to make that 12 points. If we don’t, the league is also nearly over with.
@HarrySymeou@onetowatch77 100%. After the City loss, I always knew this would be a very hard game. We were going to put out a weak team against a team flying high in the Championship. Instead of a confidence boost, we just got more anxiety for the next week. It’s the Arsenal way I’m afraid.
Southampton deserved winners. A poor Arsenal performance in so many ways. Imbalance all over the park & in the end, we got exactly what we deserved. Said this would be tough all week, I honestly believed that but I couldn’t have predicted such a disappointing display.
Two really poor performances back to back, going to be a huge amount of noise in the next few days. Let’s see if these players have it in them to handle it.
@ThePlugAFC Lisbon isn’t important. We are not winning the CL. All we need from Lisbon is some confidence for the biggest game of the season to Bournemouth on Saturday at lunchtime
@gaffer0103 Southampton have internationals as well. No one rolled over and 7th isn’t exactly mid table. 15 games unbeaten and playing at home against the team top of the premier league. I think that was their Wembley final. They’ll get battered in the semi.
Ben White has served us well, but he’s been out of his depth in both cup games. Nowhere near the level of Timber. When we needed quality in these games, we’ve really missed those players #AFC
@knowwotimean@NelsonWalex@AFCAMDEN What like Tottenham’s manager bounce? In what sane world does a club sack a manager top of the league, 9 ahead with 7 league games to go lol
@dirkhum@Orangeiceman10 He’s 100% right. The past results don’t count for anything now. The only game that matters is Bournemouth at home next week. I don’t give a crap about Sporting. Happy to lose those two games as I know we won’t win the CL. Priority has to be the league at all costs.
@Orangeiceman10 We have won four from four. They have won 2 out of the last four. I mean tweets like this are the dumbest I think and why most ignore anything said by Arsenal fans on the platform.
We aren’t winning the Champions League, no fucking chance
That Bournemouth game sandwiched in between Sporting games is huge. If we drop points there, it’s over. City spell blood
Glad we won’t see reserve players again, unless it is forced upon. The squad may be bigger now, but they’re not good enough to come in and do a good job #AFC
Just hope Gabriel is not seriously injured. Don’t really care about the domestic cups or Champions League. If we don’t win the league now, then we’ll never win it again #AFC
