We can confirm that the account @SECGov was compromised and we have completed a preliminary investigation. Based on our investigation, the compromise was not due to any breach of X’s systems, but rather due to an unidentified individual obtaining control over a phone number associated with the @SECGov account through a third party. We can also confirm that the account did not have two-factor authentication enabled at the time the account was compromised. We encourage all users to enable this extra layer of security. The recent statements made by @BenArmstrongsX Armstrong towards myself, the company and many others are false and/or outright lies! I have not threatened him or his family and would never do so. In fact if it was determined that any employee here did that they would be terminated immediately. I told many members of his family that if his wife and children needed help of any kind that we are here for them. He has refused to acknowledge any form of help up to this point. He continues to attack those around him without taking responsibility for the damages of his actions, all while using his family as a prop to garner sympathy. He has withdrawn millions of dollars from the company. He still has plenty of assets he could sell to fund his legal attack. Don’t let him scam you! Everyone here wants to see him get some help and get off this path of destruction.
