Dear hydrology/freshwater science folks: Does anyone know of any hydrologic tracer-type studies (you add something to a stream and see what happens) which looked at stream algal response during/after the tracer?

@RiverChem Gotcha. Only thing that comes to mind is the release of lampricide into streams. Takes some calc’s to get right concentration for long enough distance to be effective, but without adding too much and killing everything.

@ToddVRoyer No. We've been testing an experimental algal control technology in lakes and are trying to figure out a way to test it in flowing water - it's essentially a tracer study but trying to design it is complicated.
