@Division2Supt @universalhub @QuadWalrus That is a rare photograph. I have one taken in 1949 which shows the shelter virtually unchanged. This photo shows the car house still standing on the right hand side of the photo. Thanks for posting this.

@CharlieOnMTA The MTA began a skip stop program whereby the A train bypassed certain stations inbound in order to speed up the service. Apparently it wasn’t successful. If you got on at Forest Hills, the train would bypass green and Egleston Square, stopping at Dudley.

@CharlieOnMTA This car is a centre entrance car, not a TYPE4. Officially known as a centre entrance motor car. The last of these cars were retired in 1953.

@ArchivesBoston @CharlieOnMTA Scollay Square had movable platforms when elevated trains used the Tremont St. Subway from 1901-1908. The Elevated itself had moving platforms at Dudley and Sullivan Square stations.

@steevies89 @CharlieOnMTA I agree. Most of the new cabling and pipes were done in the MBTA era; the electric conduits put in were for the new LRVs that required more voltage, and the other cables were for signalling and WiFi capability. All old wiring throughout the MBTA is left in place, too.

We're looking to update the New Train Tracker. One thing we are focusing on is data viz (like trips per day with new trains over time). What features or data about the new @MBTA GL, OL, & RL trains would you like to see in the New Train Tracker? Current: traintracker.transitmatters.org

@bosBRT It has been 66 years since rapid transit has run on Blue Hill Avenue; streetcars in centre road reservation were removed and replaced by buses. It was all part of the City of Boston plan to speed up automobile use of city streets. Now the priority is people, not cars. Hooray!

It's been a long time coming (in 2015, #BRT was recommended for this heavily trafficked corridor) but 🚍center-running dedicated bus lanes 🚴🏾‍♂️protected bike lines & a better experience for riders, bikers, and pedestrians are coming to Blue Hill Ave!🎉 ow.ly/MQvG50GSbP0

@bosBRT I’m not sure it will make any difference once the bus gets to Revere. The stretch from Oak Island Street to Revere Street will erase any advantage that the Lynnway bus lane has.

Yes, there are equitable solutions to high-traffic intersections! Simple enhancements (& red paint🎨) to the Lynnway would improve bus speeds & create a safer experience for riders with amenities like boarding platforms and bus shelters. Let's make it happen. #betterbuses #BRT
