1 Nephi 14:14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.

Stinks you leave your best arguments and perhaps most genuine to last although I think it is a deflection from the question on methodology of CATO on costs. What these mean in practice are tough questions to deal with. If a regime is murdering its citizens and I love them as myself, am I duty bound to intervene? Can we allow our standard of living to increase while anyone anywhere in the world lives beneath us? Can there be boarders? Have a good one.

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte You too. Last parting thoughts We are to love them as we do ourselves (Leviticus 19:34): "But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God."

I don't think he does that. He goes into specific methos that he thinks overstate the benefits. You lack the ability to address arguments. Everyone that disagrees is bad, dumb. Only you and your opinion consider the facts. It is silliness and will lead you nowhere. Oh well. Have a good life.

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte The strawman is that CATO isn't saying that immigration would fix all the budget issues. Also, if you're going to count the costs associated with immigration and exclude the revenue created by immigration, then you're being selective. It's cherry-picking. It's an agenda.

@DanD48032 @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte Do you think all of the costs associated with immigrant kids shouldn't count as expenses? Is that a strawman argument?

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte It's a straw man argument (CATO's not claiming a cure-all) that also moves the goalposts (City Journal often shifts the criteria to include indirect costs) and has an appeal to fear (highlighting the most extreme costs of recent migrant surges).

I think the democrats actually thought Obama care was going to lower costs and solve problems. Lots of people believe things that are not true. Most weren't liars, just really wrong. GOP does the same thing. Everyone thinks they can win wars easier than they can. Good book explaining why these things happen. The Causes of War: Blainey, Geoffrey: 9780029035917: Amazon.com: Books

Trump is different. He attacks problems and issues that other nicer republicans have promised to address for years but never do. IE, I told you issues I liked. You keep switching to issues you think should be the most important to me. At the end we are back to your default, name calling.

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte See, you're just a lame internet troll. Trump was supposed to be different. You're just saying, "Yep. I always knew he would be more of the same." It's way easier to do that than to admit that you got duped.

@DanD48032 @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte I think the first two are true statements. The last one doesn't acknowledge they can rebuild. He may have also been surprised at how quickly they started working again but that is a harder question to answer.

Why is he different from everyone else with their bias, prejudice and personal agendas? There are experts that have seen the intelligence that support the war. The question really comes down to is a nuclear Iran worth stopping and at what cost. Do you think a nuclear Iran is worth stopping or do you think we should allow them to develop a bomb?

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte He's an expert who has seen the intelligence. I really don't care what you question. All your skepticism does is tell me that you can't see the plain truth. It's wilful blindness on your part.

I understand that politicians promise things to get elected. Very few follow through. I knew Trump wouldn't address debt because he promises no entitlement reform. Obama promised I could keep my health plan and spending would go down. Biden promised to beat Covid. Fauci said he didn't fund gain of function research. They all say things that don't happen. This isn't unique to Trump so why do you pretend it is a definitive reason that if I only voted for Dems they would be honest and trustworthy?

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte Are you serious? Trump campaigned in 2016 on eliminating the national debt. What was the point of DOGE if not to eliminate debt? They promised to eliminate $2T of waste, fraud, and abuse. He made it a central theme. Are you just trolling me?

I agree it was not a war started from an imminent threat. Iran is weak now but is rebuilding their threat and trying to develop nuclear weapons. If you think Iran shouldn't become nuclear power, probably as good a time as any for war. If you don't think it is a problem, then it is bad. I think to pretend this is a war about Israeli interests that don't overlap ours cause me to question his judgement.

I agree with you politicians are corrupt. Someday we may develop a better elite class. Until we do we will be stuck with terrible choices. I think impeachment should be common for judges and everyone else. Until it is we are stuck with the types of leaders we have. I put Trumps businesses into a couple categories. One is businesses they were already engaged in like real-estate that I don't care about at all. I don't like new businesses like truth social and crypto. Those are the ones I really don't like. These things are used as a weapon against opposition, so I am not going to get worked up about a tribal war between elites where we only enforce against people we don't like politically.

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte Trump's wealth has increased by billions, and you're silent about it. I was alive during the Clinton impeachment. I've seen this all play out. If Hunter made millions, Don Jr. and Eric are making Billions. If the Clinton Foundation got donations, Trump is selling pardons.

Why is it contradictory? Are democrats against debt? No. Is the GOP against debt? No. Is the American public for restraining spending? No. I recognize all of these things and see that there is not a majority willing to address the issue therefore I recognize we are going to have a national disaster no matter who is in charge. Therefore, if I only voted on that principle, I would not have any effect on this issue and I would not have a say on other issues I care about.

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte Hold up. "The biggest threat to the economy is debt." Zero republicans in my lifetime have just not brought down the debt; they haven't reduced spending. You're against debt, but pro-Trump. And you don't understand how insane those two contradictory pisitions makes this all.

Again, the only reason anyone can disagree with you is if they are ignorant. Is there any form of law enforcement that occurs that is not expensive and have some amount of innocent people caught up? Does that mean all enforcement should be ignored? The biggest threat to the economy is debt. No one is willing to reduce spending. What evidence do you have the economy is destroyed. All economies go through recessions, growth and cycles. GDP should go down some with lower population growth through immigration. Question is whether or not incomes are rising in comparison to inflation. What is current state on that?

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte It’s really not, unless you blow the budget (like they’re doing), incarcerate innocent people (like they’re doing), and want to destroy the economy (like they’re doing). You really don’t have a grasp on what’s happening.

Perhaps you are rationalizing. The Clinton foundation and hunter got lots of donations and jobs while they were in power. Out of power suddenly they don't have the same earning potential. To pretend there isn't influence peddling is foolish. Most influence peddling isn't illegal either. You are rationalizing. I prefer neither. I just don't see an elite class in our country that can resist nor a citizenry willing/able to make them.

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte “Don't you see why we get annoyed after all the defense of the Clinton foundation and Hunter to suddenly see Dems concerned about corruption?” How many congressional hearings did they have on Clinton and Hunter, and they found nothing. You’re just rationalizing.

Hypocrisy is the tax virtue pays to vice. Our political system rewards corruption and penalizes virtue. We do not demand virtue in our personal lives so we should not be surprised when our leaders are not virtuous. The uncomfortable truth is we complain about our leaders, but they are a perfect reflection of us. Don't you see why we get annoyed after all the defense of the Clinton foundation and Hunter to suddenly see Dems concerned about corruption?

@DanD48032 @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte I think immigration enforcement is the easiest problem. Enforce the law aggressively and make it really hard to be here illegally. It is a matter of will not possibility.

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte You have miles and miles of "wait and see" patience for your side. We've done all of this before. It didn't work then, and the only way it works now is if the US stops being a place people want to live. Make everyone as poor as they are everywhere else, and immigration ends.

I agree Dodge has been mostly a failure in that it could not cancel enough contracts. I think some of the areas they targeted and helped cut have been great and I think some efforts at modernization has promising starts. It will be interesting to see if there is staying power. Definitely didn't meet its stated goals.

@US10thAmendment @LDS_Dems @HiMay8TAte DOGE was a failure. It saved zero dollars. He didn't close the border; he empowered the US Gestapo. There's a way to close the border that didn't involve Kristi Noem enriching herself or Bovino overseeing the murder of US citizens. There was a bipartisan immigration deal.

Do you consider the US border open right now? Is any forceful removal of people that don't want to go pleasing to look at? I am glad Noem is gone. I don't know if either case was murder. You have a better argument with Pretti, I think no good argument with Goode. I think the immigration deal was more likely to loosen immigration than restrict it. All the laws currently existed to enforce the law.
