DeepSeek-R1 and OpenAI's Operator have made this an even buzzier week than usual in AI. But the question remains - how are tech advances going to play out in real businesses?
I put down some thoughts on what this means for professional services firms wing.vc/content/ai-age…

@JaredSleeper This has been _the_ discussion topic for our PE x SW team lately and what it takes to avoid this. One bit has been which way causal arrow runs - is it coincident with market/segment slowdown (in which case cutting to align is the sensible move) or did that cause top line pain.

I was especially proud of yesterday's Redactle solve. Shoutout to Mrs. Hulcher for including a robust Iditarod unit in our 1998-1999 first grade curriculum! youtube.com/watch?v=pXXkxO…

I've never been more excited to be a VC than I am today. After months thinking about the big changes happening in VC I've found a renegade of my own.
Excited to announce I'm joining @contrarycapital as a partner to build out a later stage practice 👇

Some professional news! I recently had my last day @IndexVentures. Huge thanks to the team there!
As for what’s next I’ll be taking some time off to welcome a new baby

@rmc031 I guess if I’m Jim Ryan, “going online” feels like it abdicates responsibility to try to make it safe — there will still be problems, and while they could say “hey, wasn’t us, we said stay home and be virtual,” it’s not actually the most they could do

@rmc031 Agree that *class* is higher risk in person, but point is that actual classroom experience is a small portion of the overall risk and the ability to control/mitigate the other parts is much higher if you’re “on Grounds”.

@balderd_ash_ You don’t have a way to *know* what the stock market will be in 50 years, but odds are... quite good that it will be substantially more valuable than it is today, right?

@ortizvander No thanks! Quite active actually and an OG account I’m not eager to part with. Apologies!
