This is a good idea and the government should implement it.
It will save lives and cost next to nothing.

@Liz_Cheney @BestForBritain I'm not sure how you can still call yourselves the "greatest nation on earth" after just electing that rapist as your president.

Our nation’s democratic system functioned last night and we have a new President-elect. All Americans are bound, whether we like the outcome or not, to accept the results of our elections. We now have a special responsibility, as citizens of the greatest nation on earth, to do everything we can to support and defend our Constitution, preserve the rule of law, and ensure that our institutions hold over these coming four years. Citizens across this country, our courts, members of the press and those serving in our federal, state and local governments must now be the guardrails of democracy.

This is an utterly depressing result. The US can no longer be considered a stable ally if they have voted for this authoritarian pos twice. The UK needs to pivot to Europe hard. #USElection2024

If you have the money to pay 12 years in advance, you have the money to pay the VAT.
Politics UK@PolitlcsUK
Leading private schools offered advanced payment schemes before the Budget to help parents avoid Labour’s plans to add 20 per cent VAT on fees. In some cases parents pay as much as 12 years in advance under the schemes.

Whitechapel is one of London’s most historic areas but its unique character is at risk of being overwhelmed by towers marching east from the City🏬
SAVE is strongly objecting to the latest plans for a 17-storey tower in a conservation area

@visegrad24 Thank God he's locked away in there. Best place for him. Shame it's only 18 months.

Tommy Robinson has been imprisoned in the infamous Belmarsh prison.
Tommy has been in Belmarsh before, but the previous prison governor put Tommy in a special unit called the “contingency suites” where no other prisoners had access to him.
It’s psychologically damaging to be in solitary confinement for so long, but at least Tommy was allowed visitors and he knew he wouldn’t be attacked.
But the new prison warden, a diversity hire named Jenny Louis, gave Tommy two choices: be thrown into the general population of the prison (where he could be killed by jihadist gangs) or be locked up in a tiny cell “down the block” for 23½ hours a day.
But being put “down the block” is a punishment, usually reserved for violent prisoners who engage in misconduct while in prison.
It’s not a permanent holding cell meant for long-term use. According to a recent government inspection of Belmarsh, the average length of time a prisoner has been punished “down the block” is 18 days.
Tommy was sentenced to 18 months.
The new prison warden has also threatened to punish Tommy in other ways, including severely limiting the number of visitors he’s allowed to receive.
Tommy wasn’t convicted of a crime — contempt of court is a civil offence. As a civil prisoner, he has many more rights.
The prison governor shouldn’t be allowed to punish Tommy just because she dislikes him.
