When @YhungProf0 announced his academic success few days ago, the mention of @NELFUND placed him at the center of an ongoing partisan debate regarding @officialABAT education policy. Here,we moved beyond the noise to explore the person behind the headline. shorturl.at/uQXMJ

In 1970, an Australian wheat farmer got into a dispute with his government over how much wheat he could sell. So he declared his farm an independent country. The government ignored him. He ruled it as a prince for the next 50 years. His name was Leonard Casley. He owned a 75 square kilometre property in Western Australia, several hours north of the city of Perth. The Australian government had set new wheat quotas that would let him sell only about one percent of his crop. When he protested, he claimed officials threatened to forcibly take his land. So he found an obscure British law from 1495 called the Treason Act, which said a “de facto king” of any territory could not be charged with treason. He declared his farm a sovereign nation, named himself Prince Leonard, and notified Australia. Under Australian law at the time, the government had two years to formally object. They didn’t. Leonard took the silence as legal recognition. He went all in. He printed his own currency. He printed his own stamps. He issued his own passports. He gave his wife and seven children royal titles. He built a tiny stone palace. He set up embassies in nine countries. In 1977, when the Australian Tax Office kept demanding taxes, he formally declared war on Australia. A few days later, having received no military response, he declared a ceasefire and announced victory. The tax demands stopped. Tourists started showing up. At its peak, his “country” had 40,000 visitors a year. He stamped their passports for them. He sold them his stamps and coins. In 2016, on the principality’s 46th anniversary, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom personally sent him a letter wishing his country a happy birthday. Leonard ruled for 47 years. He passed away in 2019 at 93. His son Graeme took over, but the tax bill had grown to over three million Australian dollars and Covid had stopped the tourists. In August 2020, the Principality of Hutt River formally rejoined Australia.

I love you Onyi 💜 and I love your idea. But childbirth, I think, is not the greatest sacrifice in marriage. Neither is it the biggest offer that can be brought to the table. The biggest sacrifice is "leaving one's father and mother and cleaving to one's spouse." I say this because, if a woman is unable to give birth to a child, does that mean she can't offer anything? The biggest sacrifice is saying "yes, I will marry you," "yes, I'll do life with you." ❤️
Last B 🌼🌸@Ony1nyechi

Ultimately, Childbirth is the greatest sacrifice in a marriage.. the biggest offer that can be "brought to the table "

Nothing exceptional about teaching students before you clocked 20. Many individuals taught after completing their high school. But to find one who did what Tunde Onakoya did, you’d climb seven mountains. In terms of impact, as you’ve defined it, Tunde outshines you.

I wasn't even 20 yet when I started driving impact. The students I taught in schools & tutorial centres, bet '11 & '15 would eclipse 10,000. Around Sango, I was a big name in the sciences. The ex UI SUG President who is now a notable lawyer, I taught him from JSS 3 to SS3.

I like that Prof goes to all these platforms and tells them that their methods are futile and they will never work. I have my gripe with prof because of his affiliations but if he can tell the whole clergy and political class that they can never make it. I’ll manage it.

The "Disguised" Demon: Slavery in 1871 Lagos In 1876, a mysterious writer using the name Otito Koro ("Truth is Bitter") sent a letter to The African Times. His claim? Despite 15 years of British rule meant to end the slave trade, the "demon of slavery" was back in plain sight.

Within digital environments — structured to persuade — interaction is optimized to the point of rendering a real encounter superfluous; the otherness of persons in the flesh is neutralized, and relationships are reduced to functional responses. Dear friends, you, however, are real persons! Creation itself has a body, a breath, a life to be listened to and safeguarded.

“Every one of us — whether we were born in the United States of America or on the North Pole — we all are given that gift of being created the image and likeness of God. “And the day we forget that is a day we forget who we are. When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.

this campaign of calumny against Tunde O is lazy at best. not everyone has the luxury of alignment. some people do work that cuts across divides - work that may collapse the moment it’s seen as partisan. in that position, neutrality is not cowardice; it’s a requirement for the work to survive and achieve its objectives. “but he has taken a side”. meanwhile, it’s a picture with the president of his country. an honorary ambassadorship from his state. opportunity to speak with young people (his primary target) at an event - organized by the president’s son. guess who else has a picture with the president. guess who else is a sports ambassador for Ogun state. guess who else was invited to speak at that event (Tunde didn’t even attend) that people are not dragging. what are we doing? if you’re doing impactful work, people across political divides will court you. people across the world will court you. you will be in rooms with people you like and those you loathe. and for the sake of the work, you will chest it. because the work is bigger than your personal politics. and the idea that he needs Nigeria to stay bad so he can have more slum kids is … laughable. his work isn’t about preserving slums. it’s about developing people - through chess - discipline, how they think, opportunity, etc. that doesn’t disappear if things improve. and no matter who the president is, Nigeria will never run out of underserved communities. infact, the world will never run out of it. you’re forcing politics on something that isn’t built for it. and judging a constraint you don’t carry. if you think you’d do it differently, oya do it. build something impactful, take your stance, and sustain it. until then, it’s just noise. lazy noise. 🙂‍↔️

Africa is a reservoir of joy and hope for the whole world. Its young people and its poor still dream; they hope still; they do not settle for what already exists. They desire to rise up again, to prepare for great responsibilities, to put themselves on the line personally. The desire for the infinite that dwells in the human heart is a principle of social transformation deeper than any political or cultural program. #ApostolicJourney #Angola

LAGOS 2027: THE ERASURE OF THE INDIGENE BY "OUTSIDERS" I am writing this with a heavy heart and a boiling spirit. We are watching the systematic erasure of Lagos State indigenes from the leadership of our own ancestral land, and the most insulting part is that it is being orchestrated by people who don't even call Lagos "home" when it matters. The "Outsider" Tag-Team: Faleke and Hamzat Look at the optics: James Faleke, a man who has spent his political career with one foot in Ikeja and his whole heart in Kogi, is now the one "urging" us to support Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for 2027. Why is a man who keeps trying to be Governor of Kogi State deciding who leads us in Lagos State? It’s a slap in the face. It is an "outsider" pushing for another "outsider." Let’s talk about the Hamzat lineage. We are told to support Dr. Hamzat, but where are his roots? His father, the late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat, was the Olu of Afowowa—in Ogun State. We are Yoruba, and we respect the crown, but that crown belongs to Ewekoro, Ogun State, not Lagos! How did we get to a point where the children of Ogun State Kings and Kogi State aspirants are the ones determining the fate of the 5 Divisions of Lagos? We are teaching the world that Lagos is "No Man's Land" When we allow this "Outsider for Outsider" politics to thrive, we lose the moral right to complain about anyone else. We are showing other groups—including the Igbos who are watching closely—that Lagos has no owners. If we can’t protect our own governorship for our own indigenous sons, why should anyone else respect our boundaries? We are literally opening the door and saying, "Anyone can take it." The Ikorodu Question The IBILE formula (Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, Epe) was created to ensure fairness. They have used the Epe slot. They have used the Island slot. They have used the Ikeja slot. They have tucked the Party Chairman to Badagry. So, I ask: What about Ikorodu? Is Ikorodu not part of Lagos state? Are our sons and daughters not capable? We have indigenes who have bled for this state and this party, yet they are being bypassed for people whose ancestral loyalties lie across the borders in Ogun and Kogi. A Wake-Up Call We are being treated like strangers in our own home. We are being colonized by our neighbors while we sit in silence. If we don’t stand up for the Ikorodu division and the true indigenes of this state now, there will be nothing left for our children to inherit. Lagos is not a "spoils of war" for people from other states to share. We are from Lagos State. We are Indigenes. And it is time we started acting like it. Ikorodu deserves 2027. The Indigenes deserve their land back. Signed: Baba Awori
