Footwork drills post running is the best thing you can do for your development as a fighter. Especially the ones where you’re on the backfoot and someone tries to hurt you. Essential skill when tired in a fight. Most people fall apart on the backfoot
Jack | The Boxer Philosopher@crack_jowe

Roadwork without shadowboxing afterwards doesn’t count. Half-joke aside, it never hurts to train on tired legs and spent lungs. Good mental loading for those mid-late rounds.

There is a stubborn myth that the Thais at the highest level fight everyone. But that isn’t true. They decline fights as well if they don’t see how they could beat the other guy. Phettapee pinsinchai, one of my trainers, was avoided by some famous Thai fighters.

I wrote a whole substack on this matter. During the golden age, shadowboxing was the staple of the training. Karuhat was nutritious for shadowboxing for an hour or more. People underestimate how much it helps with your development

Barry Robinson got famous for telling people they can’t rhythm step. You can technically do a backflip if you’re out of range. I’ve seen so many Thais rhythm step out of range and get away with it. Not saying it’s a good habit. But also pointing out what Barry neglects.

@rory_fahy Chalarm moves really well. As for movement. The Pinsinchai boss studies other sports and implemented it in his training here. He told me he watched judo, sovjiet boxing etc. Pinsinchai fighters were very skilled for a reason
