I think this is how the whole vibe coding / AI generated software will play out: (1) Less complex apps can basically be one shotted / done in a few prompt (2) More complex applications will become HARDER to develop, because engineers will have less of a grasp of their code base and become too reliant on AI with diminishing returns

He states that the UK once had 90%+ income tax for the highest earners in the mid 20th century and that by simply reintroducing this our problems will be solved. The world has changed significantly since the UK’s income tax rate was this high. In the late 40’s the countries that the wealthy could move to for favourable tax rates were limited. Asia was in pieces. Dubai was a fishing village and most of Europe was destroyed if not under the communist control of the Soviet Union. A move to the USA may have been a viable option but when the UK’s tax rate was 90%+, the US had a rate of 81%. This isn’t the case today. Technology has only made moving abroad easier and most countries would welcome the wealth of another’s.

It won’t fix government funding and the rich will leave. Only stupid people believe this will work.

I would pay good money for a new car with as little technology in it as possible. No GPS. No cameras. No wifi data links. No automated systems. Can’t be tracked, can’t be monitored.
