@outbreakupdates The D1.3 genotype was acknowledged several months ago (31 May 2025). See CFIA: tinyurl.com/4hmkzdc4 . Also found there, possibly apocryphal reports from court proceedings suggesting human infections. Still no sequence data that I can find.

Pandemic preparedness in the US has been leveled a crippling blow with the cancellation of multiple #BARDA contracts to help develop mRNA vaccines. No other vaccine platform produces vaccine so quickly; without mRNA, Americans will have a long wait for pandemic vax. statnews.com/2025/08/05/mrn…

@NightShiftMD Last week the eminent evolutionary theorist @CT_Bergstrom used the eloquent phrase "fuckery" to describe Makary's fantastical musings on cooking classes over insulin. Here, I think Professor Bergstrom's fine use of Anglo Saxon has found yet another application.

@OhCasavant I'll let you know. This is the rumour out here in the hinterlands. Mind you, there are lots of rumours out here... about chem trails, cosmic alignments, healing energies, etc. I'll report back.

@aetiologic Oh! That's interesting. I got my booster today, but I had an invite because I'm CEV. I've heard other people have tried but couldn't book without an invite. So you got in via walk-in?! That would be welcome news if so. Hah - might have to walk back my snark.

1/ Have been swamped & diverted from advocacy for a bit. But took time out to fire this off to @Josie_Osborne today. I'm curious - are we actually RFK Jr MAHA-Lite, with some version of 'only the vulnerable', or will these cowards finally take a stand? @bcndp @ImmunizeBC

@OhCasavant I fully expect to be the only person there. I will admit to being a bit uncertain about real evidence of benefits, etc - I am not worried- but w/ profound ?s over the availability of a new CoV2 vaccine adapted for the fall, I think this makes sense now.

2/ Here are the links to the references in the email above. My read is ANYONE can get a booster if they want, but boosters are especially recommended for certain people with EXTRA risk. @angie_rasmussen Court process that take 6+months are not helpful to public health. Six months ago a cull made urgent sense. Now - w/ no evidence of sustained transmission - acull seems capricious to me. 6m ago it was different story. CFIA should have appealed with urgency.

In case you you were wondering what’s going on in Canadian medical freedom/anti-vax news, the embarrassing off-brand J6ers of the True North convoyed out to BC to prevent 400 H5N1-infected ostriches from being culled. This got me thinking about H5N1 in ostrich hosts 🧵👇🏻
Sisu van Hellberta@sisuvanhell

The #avianflu infected ostrich farm in BC where convoyers have been camping out LOST in court. In a 136 page decision in favor of the CFIA, the judge ruled the cull can go ahead. Bubble bus convoyer Jim Kerr is now begging for support, hoping RFK Jr. or others will intervene.

If I understand his numbers, you’d need 67 new nuclear energy plants by 2030 just for AI data centres in the U.S. alone Conventional ideas about protecting the planet or environment are woefully weak and pathetic faced with this - and ‘offsetting’ is nonsensical at this scale

@deonandan @MovatSusie Those of us North of 60 (age, not geography, not TV show) are likely to have deceased parents, and perhaps only apocryphal evidence of prior measles infection. Assuming that we have actionable data from 6 decades ago is imprudent, but imprudent defines public health these days.

@MovatSusie If you're over a certain age and have never had measles, it is likely your immunity has waned.

Dear friends, if you're an adult, do consider asking your doctor to test your measles titres to see if you need to get an MMR booster. Ontario is in the midst of an extensive measles outbreak. Let's keep our kids safe(r) by creating a wall of immunity among adults, not just kids.

@deonandan I've been looking, and have not seen, any representative samples with measles antibody titres for Canada. Am I missing something or do we really not know the distribution of titres across the population? Please tell me that I missed a key paper!

@robgillezeau Perhaps we could convince Mr Carney that it could be recognized as a right? That would be worth voting for!

The idea that health care is a right is a central part of Canadian identity, but it's sadly not true in practice for far too many people. For kids with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions, access to basic health services requires $50,000+ per year at a minimum.
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

In America, health care is big business. In Canada, it’s a right. My government will focus on modernizing public health care so it lives up to its promise to Canadians. That means thousands more doctors, new and renovated hospitals, and giving you access to your own health data.

@seatsixtyone The old fashioned magnetic tickets were still around in April 2025… but we had the odd experience that tickets paid for in central Paris were not honored at Versailles station. Needed "Versailles" purchased tickets. Same face value.

@kasza_leslie @crwequine @FionaMattatall The worrying thing is the size of the original "signal" that had generated this response? It had to be large enough to be definitive! How many women already identified with iatrogenic infections?

This is obscene and awful. And is totally unacceptable practice. Not what responsible gynecologists do, folks. No how, no way. Kudos to @FionaMattatall and all the other fabulous gynecology colleagues out there.
