My student loan debt is at well over £70K by now. It’ll take me years to pay off. Meanwhile, the Government is shelling out nearly 4 BILLION every year giving student loans to foreign citizens. I’ll be in debt for the rest of my working life so that 78,000 Romanians per year (yes, that’s right, PER YEAR) can get a free ride to a UK university. And that’s not all. We’re giving out over 700 MILLION annually to students of “unknown nationality”. Shelling out thousands upon thousands for non-citizens who won’t even declare where they’re coming from. How much of this is being paid back? Practically none, I bet. How many of these “students” are just taking the money and screwing off back to their home countries? Plenty, I’m sure. So… I’m stuck with decades of debt because the British government is bankrolling degrees for hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals. It’s a scam. And students like me are paying the price.
