Some victories in public life are measured not in headlines, but in the light restored to a child’s eyes. Through Sebaashray’s commitment, eight-month-old twins Alifa and Rayana Khatun have successfully undergone sight-restoring surgeries at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, overcoming congenital blindness and embracing a future once thought impossible. Seeing their world illuminated for the very first time is more than a medical success; it is a reaffirmation that compassionate governance, timely intervention, and an unshakeable commitment to people’s welfare can transform lives in the most profound ways. Their smiles, and the joy of their family, are reminders of why this journey of service matters. When humanity leads, hope prevails.

To every Trinamool Congress leader, party worker, booth agent, volunteer, supporter, and believer in the Maa-Mati-Manush philosophy 👇 Buy every packet of sobuj aabir you can find. Stockpile it. Hoard it. Because on 4th May, there is going to be a very serious shortage. The entire state will be painted green. Rabindrasangeet will buzz from every corner of Bengal. And yes, we will play a little DJ too. Get ready. The celebration has already begun in our hearts. The streets just need to catch up. Joy Bangla! Maa-Mati-Manush Zindabaad!

The arrest of Vinesh Chandel, co-founder of I-PAC, barely 10 days before the Bengal elections, is not just alarming- It shakes the very idea of a level playing field. At a time when WB should be moving toward free and fair elections, this kind of action sends a chilling message: If you work with the opposition, you could be next. That’s not democracy- that’s intimidation! What makes it even harder to ignore is the double standard. Those facing serious corruption allegations seem to find protection the moment they switch sides, while others are swiftly targeted at politically convenient moments. People are not blind to this anymore. When institutions meant to protect democracy start feeling like tools of pressure, trust begins to erode. On one side, the Election Commission. On the other, agencies like the ED, NIA, CBI stepping in at the most sensitive time. It creates an atmosphere of fear, not fairness. India has always taken pride in its democracy- loud, messy but free. But today, many are beginning to ask: are we still that country? This is bigger than one arrest. It is about whether our institutions remain independent and whether every citizen, no matter their political belief, can participate without fear. Because once fear replaces freedom, democracy becomes just a word. To Amit Shah and the BJP’s power structure- Be in Bengal on the 4th and 5th of May. Come with Gyanesh Kumar and every agency you deploy. Bengal will not be bullied, will not be silenced and will not bow. This is a land that answers pressure with resistance and it will show you exactly what that means!

This is the kind of “PARIVARTAN” the BJP seeks to impose on the soil of Bengal. Immediately after the announcement of elections, the @ECISVEEP initiated sweeping administrative changes- replacing the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP, ADGs, IGs, SPs, DMs, the Kolkata Police Commissioner and even the KMC Commissioner. Such unprecedented interventions raise serious questions about intent and timing. What has followed is even more disturbing. In the shadow of these changes, there are increasing reports of intimidation, where shops are being vandalised, tensions being stoked in the name of religion and ordinary people being made to suffer. We don’t need a “BULLDOZER MODEL”. We don’t need imported politics of hatred and violence. It’s the para culture, the adda, the festivals we celebrate together, the respect we have for each other’s beliefs. THAT’S OUR IDENTITY. For generations, Bengal has celebrated Durga Puja, Diwali, Poila Boishakh, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Buddha Purnima, and Christmas together without fear, without division and without violence. Yet in just the past few days, we are seeing a disturbing glimpse of the kind of “CHANGE” being pushed onto this land of revolutionaries. The land of Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda has always stood for tolerance, harmony and coexistence. For decades, Bengal has been a living example of unity in diversity. Today, that very social fabric appears under strain. The question is: Who benefits from this disruption and at what cost to the people of Bengal? Shame on @ECISVEEP @BJP4India !

This is precisely why judicial authority was diluted and the Chief Justice of India was removed from the CEC selection panel. If this trajectory continues, it won’t be long before Supreme Court judgments appear politically stamped. Those sworn to protect the Constitution are now chipping away at its very foundations to serve narrow political ends. A BETRAYAL OF BOTH DUTY AND DEMOCRACY. What a troubling decline for our institutions!

If this is the “PARIVARTAN” BJP promises Bengal- abuse, vulgarity and attacks on our Chief Minister- then Bengal rejects it outright. Insulting her is an insult to every Bengali and every woman of this state. A minion from Uttar Pradesh using such language and facing no consequences exposes BJP’s true character. This is their “DOUBLE ENGINE” model. Will the @ECISVEEP , @PMOIndia , @HMOIndia @CMOfficeUP act? BENGAL is watching and the ANSWER will come loud and clear on 4th May!

The manner in which the Election Commission has singled out and targeted Bengal is not just unprecedented- It is deeply alarming. Even before the formal notification of elections, more than 50 senior officials including the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP, ADGs, IGs, DIGs, District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been summarily and arbitrarily removed. This is not administrative action rather this is political interference of the highest order. The systematic politicisation of institutions meant to remain impartial is a direct assault on the Constitution. At a time when a deeply flawed SIR process is underway and over 200 lives have already been lost, the conduct of the Commission reflects a clear bias and an uncomfortable submission to political interests, continuing to put the people of Bengal at risk. Supplementary electoral rolls are still not published, in clear disregard of the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directions, leaving citizens anxious and uncertain. Meanwhile, senior officers from critical agencies like IB, STF and CID are being selectively removed and dispatched out of the state, pointing to a calculated attempt to cripple Bengal’s administrative machinery. Why is the BJP so desperate? Why this relentless targeting of Bengal and its people? What satisfaction do they derive from forcing citizens, even after 78 years of Independence, to stand in queues and prove their own citizenship? The contradictions in the Commission’s actions expose its complete collapse of credibility. It claims that removed officers should not be assigned election duties, yet within hours, the same officers are sent out as election observers. The appointment of the Commissioners of Police of Siliguri and Bidhannagar as observers, without even putting replacements in place, left two vital urban centres effectively headless. It was only after this glaring lapse came to light that rushed corrections followed. This is not governance. It reflects chaos, confusion and sheer incompetence being passed off as authority. This is not incidental, it points to a deliberate design to seize control of West Bengal through coercion and institutional manipulation. What we are witnessing is nothing short of an undeclared emergency and an unpromulgated form of president’s rule driven by political vendetta, not democratic principles. Having failed to win the trust of Bengal’s people, the BJP is now attempting to capture the state through coercion, intimidation, manipulation and the misuse of institutions. I stand in complete solidarity with every officer of the Government of West Bengal and their families, who are being targeted simply for serving the state with honesty and commitment. Bengal has never bowed to intimidation and it never will. Bengal will fight, Bengal will resist and Bengal will decisively defeat every attempt to impose a divisive and destructive agenda on its soil.

If leadership means anything, it must mean ensuring that no citizen is left struggling for something as fundamental as healthcare. Through Sebaashray 2, several elderly citizens who had been living with blurred vision for years have now regained clarity and confidence. Through coordinated referrals, 46 residents from Maheshtala, Budge Budge and Satgachia underwent free surgeries at Drishti Eye Care Centre. An additional 20 citizens from Falta and Maheshtala received treatment at Renuka Eye Institute, and 10 from Metiabruz successfully completed their procedures at Vivekananda Mission Ashram Netra Niramay Niketan. As long as I have the opportunity to serve, initiatives like this will continue, with focus, compassion and accountability.

Is the @ECISVEEP of the view that directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court can be openly FLOUTED? The highest Court of the land has repeatedly emphasised transparency, due process, and adherence to official channels of communication. Yet we are witnessing instructions being circulated over WhatsApp rather than through formal, traceable, and accountable mechanisms. Even more disturbing are credible reports of Special Roll Observer, C. Murugan, issuing instructions regarding the acceptability of birth certificates directly to Micro Observers in a WhatsApp group, to inflate deletion numbers. Need I remind the ECI of the Supreme Court’s categorical directive that the role of micro-observers must remain strictly assistive? Why, then, is statutory procedure being bypassed, and under whose instructions? Additionally, Roll Observers are designated district-wise, yet it is seen that login credentials linked to these observers are being accessed from a central location in Kolkata. Login Data is being misused to generate queries and specifically target a certain community at the direction of ECI’s political masters in Delhi. Should this matter be independently examined, it will be established that the tower location and IP address of the login device differ from the actual location of the concerned roll observer. The Election Commission derives its legitimacy from PUBLIC TRUST, not POLITICAL PATRONAGE. We shall pursue this matter before the highest court of law. Further, any person aligning themselves with or acting at the behest of Zamindars of Delhi will face stringent and uncompromising legal action. Brace yourselves!

I thank Hon'ble Finance Minister @nsitharaman for so carefully listening to my speech. Though I wish she'd listen as carefully to the people of Bengal when they ask for their MGNREGA, PMAY, PMGSY and JJM dues. The Finance Minister says I 'twisted facts.' Let me untwist them for her. She's absolutely right, there's no GST on fresh liquid milk. But perhaps she hasn't seen the mother who can't afford fresh milk, who stretches her budget by mixing powdered milk for her infant. That powdered milk? 5% GST. Zero tax on what she can't buy, 5% tax on what she's forced to buy. She's correct again, textbooks have no GST. But the graph paper a student uses for his/her math assignment? 12% GST. The laboratory notebook for the science practical? 12% GST. The crayons for the drawing class? 12% GST. On healthcare, she's technically accurate as always; consultation and treatment are GST-free. But the oxygen cylinder that keeps a COVID patient alive? 12% GST. The insulin injection that prevents a diabetic from dying? 5% GST. The anesthesia for the surgery? 12% GST. And yes, funeral services are exempt. But the agarbatti we light for our departed? 5% GST. EVEN GRIEF HAS A PRICE TAG IN ‘NEW INDIA.’ This, Honourable Finance Minister, is EXACTLY the problem I was highlighting. Until you understand the difference between what's written in the GST Act and what's written on a poor family's grocery bill, you'll keep living in your India while we live in ours. Thank you for proving my point better than I ever could.

I heard Hon’ble MP (LS) @abhishekaitc's speech very carefully. It's unfortunate that he twisted facts which are known to everyone in this House. Very conveniently he spoke about the life cycle of an individual & lied. Ever since the GST was introduced in 2017, there has been ZERO GST on milk. Is he taking the members of this House as fools? There's no GST on education. Effectively, the GST is exempt. Pre-school to higher secondary education, there's no GST. Education leading to recognised qualifications, there's no GST. On books, textbooks & notebooks, there's no GST since 2017. He even spoke about pencil, sharpener etc. How can someone lie so much? Pencils, sharpeners, erasers, exercise books, notebooks, and maps have zero GST. On Healthcare services (treatment, diagnosis, care), I want to thank the members of the GST Council, there's 0% GST since 1st July, 2017. Health & Life Insurance on Individual plans was brought down to 0% in the Next Gen GST reforms (September 2025). He even mentioned about the fact that an individual is charged GST even after his death. There was no GST on funeral services ever in the first place. May be it's the syndicate running in West Bengal, which will be charging cut money on death. - Smt @nsitharaman in Lok Sabha.
