@andre_lesa Their next play is to wait for the day she slips up so that they tweet something starting with and along the lines of “I always knew that rape apologist pick me lawyer lady was ~fill in the blanks~” They’ll do anything but respect a perspective different from their own.

@Litmagogo @Mister_Sakala I agree with this. Also people just need to accept nuance. Few things are black and white

@andre_lesa @Mister_Sakala People can't debate. The lawyers are saying it is a bad law others insist it will stop crime. What we needed was a fast track for Sex offenders, a list of sex offenders available online like the RATSA offense website, with faces and everything.

“I think courts in Zambia should move faster so that innocent people do not suffer needlessly.” According to people here - that means I support criminals and I plan to do a string of crimes myself therefore I am saying this to protect my future guilty self.

Non-bailable offences I believe all cases should be bailable. This means that the decision whether or not to grant bail is in the discretion of the court looking at the circumstances of each case. Conditions of bail should also be in the discretion of the court. I also believe that there should be a statutory guideline guiding courts as to the appropriate cases in which to grant bail or not. Allowing all offenses to be potentially bailable eliminates the risk of falsely accused persons rotting in jail for a crime they didn't commit. We saw how the non-bailable offence of 'theft of motor vehicle' was weaponised against political opponents in the past. The same can happen with these new non-bailable offences. Making an offence bailable doesn't mean that you will automatically be granted bail. The Prosecution has to argue that, in the circumstances of the case, the accused should be locked up e.g. aggravating circumstances of the crime, the accused is a flight risk etc. I have long argued that making offenses non-bailable is in contravention of Article 18 of the Constitution, the right to a fair trial and to be considered innocent until proven guilty.

@LindaKasonde What's your take in the new Non bailable Law?

By the way, irrespective of the personal false accusation experience,I support the Act with one condition, strengthen the judicial process. To alleviate the unintended risk of prolonged "punishment" before conviction, the state should establish fast track courts to handle none bailable offences which would require trials to start within 30 days & finish within 90/120 days. If the prosecution fails to meet these deadlines, the none bailable status should lapse, allowing courts to grant bail & protecting the right to a trial within a reasonable time under Article 18(1) of the Constitution of Zambia. @ngoni_princesss

I was falsely accused. You won't see many people raising their hands because of fear of insensitive follow up questions & insinuations,("but how did this happen?you must have done something wrong, there's no smoke without fire"),the same fear that stops rape victims from talking.
✨☀️@ngoni_princesss

How many of you have been falsely accused of rape so far? Or know someone who was falsely accused?

Too much of Africa's dominant public discourse remains anchored in grievance. Colonialism was real. Structural adjustment caused documented harm. None denied. But grievance as analytical mode produces no actionable output. It describes the wound without building the scaffold. Being stuck in that register is intellectual comfort masquerading as justice.

Vietnam was colonized by the French, bombed to pieces, and left with nothing.  Today it's kicking our asses back home in Africa. At some point we have to stop making excuses.

@hherb12 You have said absolutely nothing. The bombings happened at refugee camps or if you are a colonialist apologist: training camps of the resistance. Innocent people including Maina Soko and Alick Nkhata died in such attacks on Zambia. You should educate yourself.

My friend, don't underestimate my contribution to the security of Israel and the United States in the campaign against Iran. Unlike you, I have also practicality operated in the field (even as a major belive it or not) and I am familiar with the limits of power when dealing with Tehran. As I wrote, I understand the frustration well and I’m certainly not angry. One does not judge a person in their moment of distress.I understand the shock that comes with realizing the gap between what is written in a theoretical or your imagined world and what actually happens in reality. It has happened even to those far more experienced than you. That said, to my colleagues who are analysts of the Iranian arena that knows Iran, I say this: this is how total meltdown looks like. Those whose entire professional life focus has been the campaign against Iran, and who are now realizing how flawed their strategy was, are looking scapegoat to blame. If I were in their position, I would be concerned about what comes next, and what they will do the day after, when it becomes clear that their entire professional lives were built on illusions. It’s not an easy, I am sure of that. I wish them all the best, and I would suggest they leave the Iranian analysis arena to true experts before continuing to offer misguided advice. Stay safe Richard. You have my deepest sympathy.

So, he didn't call you. And you have no idea if Mojtaba is in control of his faculties and calling any shots. You were the head of an intelligence branch? What branch was that exactly? And you left as a Major -- after all those years? That's weird...

I’m always borrowing from my mum & she writes off the debt. Today she told my kids that they are not going to have pizza because I owe her over K260,000 & I need to pay at least K20,000. The kids called and reminded me to pay back. I sent her K2,000 😭😭 The kids got pizza!
