Suella Braverman is planning to take on three new migration detention centres at a cost of £306 million. This is breathtaking in itself. However, utterly catastrophic when you find that this will only house 1000 people! The cost of processing the backlog would be a very small fraction of this and is a positive step in sorting out the issues we face. In 2015 90% of applications were processed within 6 months. This has now reduced to just 4%. - staggering mismanagement. Processing the backlog is the right thing to do. Taking on more detention centres that house so few refugees at vast cost is not. Insanity SB also promised 20,000 new police officers. Today, she celebrated there being 150,000 police officers in England and Wales which she said was a record. In fact only 5000 new police officers have been employed, and per capita of the population, in fact is a reduction since 2010. Story one - corruption and massive financial mismanagement. Incredibly poor judgment. Story two- gross misrepresentation. All on a Monday morning. Trump would be proud of SB. There are better ways in which truth, compassion, and doing the right thing is at the heart of each policy. Please take a look at Gina Miller’s True and Fair Party. I did, and I joined and am standing in the next General Election against Suella Braverman.
