In case you’re wondering what is the deadline for apps to adopt Liquid Glass (at least on the native elements) that is ~April 2027. Apps who avoid the new UI are currently abusing a PLIST key called “UIDesignRequiresCompatibility” which allows them to build the apps using the iOS 26 SDK but keep the legacy UI (this is supposedly to be used temporarily to give time to implement Liquid Glass, not avoid it) That way they’ll bypass the April 28 deadline for building with Xcode 26 and the iOS 26 SDK. Apple has however confirmed they’ll remove this flag with Xcode 27 and iOS 27 which will have their own deadline in April next year

I did this until I discovered I actually need B-width shoes, and yes it will cramp toes. It’s a pity that most European manufacturers don’t make anything narrower than D-width. Many American manufacturers also no longer do. I’m happy I can buy vintage, but I wish there was more choice.

Respectfully disagree. Shoes that aren't sneakers are commonly made with Celastic stiffeners at the toe and heel. These materials don't stretch. So while a slip-on shoe can stretch in terms of circumference, it's unlikely to stretch in length. You will thus likely cramp your toes

@cryptopatrick @badlogicgames Go deep on niches that pull you in. If you open PRs on an OSS repo, respect the maintainer's time and don’t submit slop - your PRs should be tight, human reviewed and manually tested. Focus on shipping useful stuff that provide value to others.

The best part? It comes with a new visual indicator for pace, so you don't have to read anymore to see if you're vibing too fast or too slow. Props to @antons for the work! It's the details. github.com/steipete/Codex…

I’ve been spending a lot of time in Ghostty, and I wanted a nicer way to build and run our Xcode projects. So I’ve made a Codex-inspired TUI (fully vibe-coded with Codex, of course).

@rnmp Xcode reported 12s, and I measured xcodebuild at 14s on an incremental debug build. I guess it could be different depending on the tech you use.

@antons In my experience Xcode build hasn’t been as fast which has put me in this awkward “vim for editing, Xcode for building and debugging” kinda situation

@antons nice because default tool spits out too much stuff and eats all the context

@rnmp Yeah, it uses xcodebuild. About as fast.

@antons Does it match the build speed of Xcode?

@nagendra_rao For ASC, it uses Fastlane. I never had the patience to set it up before coding agents.

@antons Can it set “What’s New” for all languages on the submission page? This is a pain to copy paste every time.

"Codex has allowed me to put much more energy towards the higher-level work, without getting bogged down by the minute details.":

It’s been a couple of months since I read @steipete’s earlier post and decided to give Codex a try. It clicked. My process has changed more than it has in the decade before, and I couldn’t be happier. I started writing code because I wanted to make apps for iPhone and Mac. It has never been the end goal, but a tool. Codex has allowed me to put much more energy towards the higher-level work, without getting bogged down by the minute details. For the first time ever, I can do things as fast as I expect to. For the first time ever, I have time and energy to put into side projects.

All that said, I love to program. I’ve written some pieces of code I’m very proud of. And I care a lot about writing good, efficient, beautiful code. The problem with caring so much is that grunt work sometimes takes too much time and energy. And I’m happy to give up some control to be able to focus more on parts that really matter.

@antons @steipete I see this pattern again and again: builders (technical and non technical both) love agentic coding tools, while those who program for the love of programming resist them because they prefer to build everything on their own.

codex-5.2 not being available anywhere else than codex is kind of a bummer...ya'all are missing out. And yes, hell freezes over, I tried Cursor a bit and they came a long way. Need to create some usage to test this. (I know I said no... but you folks are very persistent)
