U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has posted a video of a U.S. warship making a broadcast on marine VHF channel 16 to ships about the blockade of Iran: "The U.S. has announced a formal blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas. This is a legal action. All vessels are advised to immediately return to port if leaving and discontinue transit to Iran if that is your next port of call. Do not attempt to breach the blockade. Vessels will be boarded for interdiction and seizure transiting to or from an Iranian port. Turn around or prepare to be boarded. If you do not comply with this blockade, we will use force. The whole of the United States Navy is ready to force compliance. Out." Marine VHF 16 is the international hailing channel for ships at sea.

Two Iranian crude oil tankers attempting to depart the Port of Chabahar on the Gulf of Oman were intercepted by a U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer earlier today, who ordered the tankers to turn around and return to port via radio communication channels, officials tell Reuters.

U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers are among the assets executing a blockade mission impacting Iranian ports. The blockade is being enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or leaving coastal areas or ports in Iran. A typical destroyer has a crew of more than 300 Sailors that are highly trained in conducting offensive and defensive maritime operations.

🇺🇸 The ships turning back at the Strait are doing so roughly 400 kilometers from where the USS Abraham Lincoln is currently positioned. That's a horizon-level threat; close enough to respond, far enough to not provoke. The blockade is being enforced by presence, not proximity.
