@ket_kobra_ket @KureSerhilder I don’t like these new Toki buildings, they have robbed the city of its natural charm imo. It looks too artificial.

@asteraex @KureSerhilder Overrated in what sense? I liked that it didn't feel suffocating/claustrophobic (like so many other cities in Turkey). As for nature (south of it), yeah.

@KureSerhilder Amed is not exactly in the circled area. Mardin is beautiful but only the city, the countryside is not nice at all. It‘s mostly dry steppe.

@ezidi2024 That‘s Lak and Kalhor culture aka Southern Kurdish culture. They are similar to Lurs because of geographical proximity. But Lurs are a Perside ethnic group, whereas Laks and Kalhors are Kurdish.

@asteraex Then why are you stealing their culture and practicing cultural appropriation?

I’m going to explain why Yezidis are ethnically Kurdish, using historical sources, genetic data & a look into their culture and also why they cannot be compared to Jews. First of all you need to understand that ethnicity ≠ identity. Ethnicity is an objective thing. You can not choose your ethnicity or change it based on emotions or political views. Identity however is subjective. A Yezidi can identify as Yezidi first and foremost and that is completely fine. Many religious minorities in the Middle East do the same. The problem starts when Yezidi nationalists (mostly from Sinjar and surrounding areas) begin revising history and making claims that are simply not based on facts. I’m going to address and debunk these claims using historical sources and genetic data. This will be a long read. 🧵

Well, Lurs aren‘t Kurds anyway. With Zazas it‘s a bit more complicated but them not identifying as Kurds makes somewhat sense considering linguistics. Thank you for wishing us luck. The only thing Kurds need to accept is their Iranic heritage. Once they do this, we‘re on the right path. 😊

@asteraex The Lurs resist forced assimilation by parts of the Zazas, even Alevis don’t identify with Kurdism. Minorities clearly aren’t interested in you. Dozens of tweets insult this „unity.“ That’s why there were two Nowruz celebrations in Germany. Good luck.

@Duajo0 I love the Hakkari dialect, I love everything about Hakkari. I heard the „desert“ dialect is called Çoli, the one spoken around Nisêbîn.

Yeah, Hanafi Kurds from Bakur are very similar to Shia Kurds in Rojhelat. They are generally pro Turkey and well integrated into Turkish society. Alevi Kurds resemble Yarsanis, they are either assimilated Kemalists or active in Kurdish political parties but they are usually in opposition to the regime, even the Kemalist ones. Shafii Kurds in Bakur are overall the group with the strongest Kurdish nationalist stance.

@Geshti_Azadi However, even then there are clear paralleles. Kurds of Semşur for example are very similar to SKs in that regard

I've been meaning to comment on this: The secularist camp so often argue that Sunnism among the Kurds is breeding complacency. Regardless, the territories from Hakkari to Diyarbakir are still traditional Sunni lands, so the argument ultimately falls flat.
Ari@KurdiCompendium

He’s half Khorasani Kurd. SKs + Khorosani Shiite Kurds in Iran have proportional representation and participation in the Islamic regime of Iran when you look strictly at the numbers. Lurs (whom many Kurds insist are one of us) have the greatest overrepresentation in the Islamic regime. Double what would be considered proportional. Another large segment of the Lur community consists of Pahlavi monarchists. Look at Goldie Ghamari, Niyak Ghorbani, and many other prominent figures supporting the Reza Pahlavi camp. Among the SKs I know, about half support the regime and a large % support Reza Pahlavi. Much more than what Kurds would like to admit. Many people speak on behalf of SKs in Iran, but they don’t know the reality on the ground. As much as people criticize Bakuris, they tend to be more nationalist than SKs in Iran. This is even without considering the Laks of Iran, a very large % of whom have moved away from Kurdish identification altogether. And they number 1-2 million. If you stay around pro Kurdish camps of course you will find a lot of outliers, but that’s just because the types of people you are likely to interact with is going to be self selecting. The Kurdish population of Iran is realistically about 9% as of 2026. I wouldn’t be surprised if it drops to 5-6% in a hundred years if Kurds don’t manage to break off Iran. Sunni Kurdish regions have the most hope as there is a religious barrier against what else goes on in Iran.

@Geshti_Azadi Feyli Kurds were also very active in nationalist Kurdish movements. Leyla Qasim is a prominent figure among them.

On the other hand, we may rightfully ask about the last time that there was an ongoing Kurdish rights movement of any sort in the traditional Shia regions of Kurdistan. The voice of Behrouz Boochani comes to mind, but that's the extent of it, as far as i'm aware.

@berattsyldz_ @yenidenturkmen Türkçesi zaten Süryani, Ingilizcede Syriac oluyor. Zaten en doğrusu Syriac demek, kendi dillerinde de Suryoye. Assyrian’in Türkçesi Assuri ama o terim biraz milliyetçi larp açikçasi.
