That would have been me this year at Newroz in Akrê if my trip hadn’t been canceled. Now AI has to stand in for it.

In Kurdish mythology, Dahhak is described as an Assyrian tyrant. In Iranian mythology, he is known as an evil ruler of Arab descent. However, the story of a serpent-like evil ruler is much older and comes from ancient eastern Iran, originating among the early Iranians. The story of Kawa the Blacksmith and the serpent-like tyrant Dahhak likely represents early conflicts between the Aryans and the Dāsas.

Kurdish legend of Kawa the smith (they left out the more grousome parts and that evil King was Assyrian)

@KureSerhilder I guess it‘s very recent and originates in the early nationalist movements among Kurds, early 20th century.

@asteraex Why is it it an Assyrian in Kurdish mythology? How old is this story? It seems like it was made by one of those Median larper Kurds.

@Duajo0 Very interesting, I have to look more into that. It seems that Dahhak symbolizes different opponents at different times but the myth ultimately originates among early Iranians and represents the conflict between Aryans and Dāsas.

@asteraex In all likelihood, the claim of Dahhak being an Assyrian King is probably very modern. It's just very convenient to the Kurdish narrative of the oppressed Median clans rising against a (historically valid) tyrannical Assyrian empire, echoing the modern reality of the Kurds.

@MaksuNEV @HemdadArwandi @KurdiCompendium Every Kurd should support Kurdish self-determination, but this is a completely different topic than historic revisionism and the bastardisation of our people.

@asteraex @HemdadArwandi @KurdiCompendium I think there's another problem: This page, and a few similar ones, embrace Pan-Iranism alongside their historical narratives and encourage Kurds to adopt this stance. They also have good relations with Pahlavi supporters. Some Kurds don't like that.

@RobPutrus @Shahrizor She likely has higher Yaz than 6%. Kurdish average for Yaz is around 25-30%, so 6% would read as 20-25% Kurdish/Persian in those commercial DNA tests from MyHeritage & Co.

These people were more fanatical than even the Taliban; at the behest of their sheikh, they would die to the last man. Their sons will one day conquer Zagros and Anatolia either spiritually, like they did in the past, or physically.

🧵 The Legendary Pir Shaliyar Wedding of the Yarsani Kurds. High in the rugged peaks of the Hawraman region, within the stone-walled villages of the ancient mountains, time stands still every winter as a centuries-old legend comes to life. The Wedding of Pir Shaliyar is not merely a celebration; it is a dance of nature, love, and faith. According to legend, Pir Shaliyar was a wise Zoroastrian elder with mystical powers, deeply revered by his people. When the daughter of the King of Bukhara, Shah Bahar Khatun, fell into a mysterious silence that no physician could cure, it was the prayers and wisdom of Pir Shaliyar that restored her voice. In gratitude, the King offered his daughter’s hand in marriage. Lacking the wealth for a royal ceremony, the local community united to host a magnificent wedding for their beloved Pir. For over a thousand years, this tradition has been kept alive during the last week of January, marking the transition from the heart of winter to the first whispers of spring. The soul of this ceremony lies in the rhythmic pulse of the Daf (frame drum) echoing through the narrow alleys of Hawraman. Dervishes clad in traditional attire join hands in a trance-like state, performing mystical chants and spiritual circles known as Sema. Participants share sacred bread brought from the house of Pir Shaliyar, sacrifices are made, and the traditional "Hulane" soup is distributed from giant cauldrons. This festival is a profound testament to communal solidarity and an ancient cultural mosaic where pre-Islamic roots blend seamlessly with Sufi spirituality. The Yarsan Kurds (also known as Ahl-e Haqq) are one of the ancient communities of the Middle East, with a unique belief system dating back to the 14th century and the teachings of Sultan Sahak.

Kurdish obsession with being a series of autochthonous of unrelated Mesopotamian or Cis-Zagrosian groups is a coping mechanism and directly related to slave mentality. Saying Kurds are not Iranians by ethnic origin is straight up delusional, and these copers need to be brutally crushed and suppressed in every capacity possible.
