The suit also claims that -CS is directly contributing to gun violence & that it’s possible to get a “near miss” gold , which isnt true.

At the end of the day, cases are not gambling. You could argue that it’s similar to gambling in design and I would totally agree with you. But you simply cannot cash out your Steam balance through Steam. You can buy video games, other in-game items, Steam trading cards. None of which are supposed to have real world value according to Steam. Valve has stated it in their policies clearly and we’ve agreed to follow them as Steam users. The closest thing to “cashing out” would be the fact that you can purchase valve hardware like the VR headset or the Steam Deck and sell it on a third-party like Facebook Marketplace or eBay. And even then, that transaction for valve hardware is considered a “standard sale of real goods” NOT “virtual items that have no real cash value”. Any sale of a “virtual item” on a third-party website is unadvised by valve and not operationally controlled by them. Just because someone sells Baseball/Trading cards or Sneakers on a third-party website doesn’t mean the original manufacturer runs a gambling operation. That is my take that nobody asked for 🤣

The New York State Attorney General are suing Valve for promoting illegal gambling with cases. This could affect all skins in CS2. That's likely why Valve focus on the Armory Pass and Genesis Terminal and have strayed away from cases. For skins... this might be bad. Thoughts?
