@missypurcell1 This is evidence based. And how about schools start teaching to the kids in front of them? These strategies allow you to hone in on individual / small group / whole group needs. We are not (and likely have never been) one size fits all.

@bnteichmann So many strategies are distracting from a systematic approach to reading instruction coupled with evidenced based curriculum. How about schools adopt a scope and sequence matched to evidenced based curriculum with proper teacher training 🙌🏻

300 Strategies??? There aren’t even enough school days to use all these, and I’m just imagining the cognitive overload for our neurodivergent learners. 🚩 🚩🚩🚩

Talk about Chutzpah. @JSerravallo’s 1st ed of her “Reading Strategies Book” was an awful compendium of 300 “strategies” for reading teachers. It cost $45. “Just kidding!” says Serravallo now. “Here’s my brand new 300 strategies. These are what I really meant to say.” Cost: $46

There is no ‘teacher shortage’. There are thousands of qualified experiences teachers who are no longer teaching. There’s a shortage of respect and proper compensation for teachers allowing them to actually teach.
