$BOLD can’t scale. $DAI is centralized. $RAI can’t scale. Decentralized stablecoins can’t save the economy if they can’t scale to be the reserve.

Decentralized Currency Saves Fiat If the USD is worth more than the EUR, everything in Europe is cheaper for USD holders. How easy is it to sell a value prop of "the world is cheaper?" Fundamentally the fiat battlefield is governments inflating as much as they can without destroying their own economy.....mission impossible clearly. A reserve currency (i.e. fiat with a global monetary premium) simply prolongs the core ponzi failure case: the further you get from the fundamental value of the underlying, the harder the fall is when the market reprices it. And guess who's left holding the bag? Its citizens. We lose purchasing power every day until the currency collapses. You only "win" if you have access to investments & the excess cash to buy them. How does decentralized money change this? An exit. Decentralized currencies give citizens an exit from bad monetary policy, from sharp repricing, from monetary chaos....if the currency is bigger than the fiat at fault. So, the reserve currency must be decentralized; but is it really saving fiat if it only protects the people? Well lucky for us the benefits extend to the fiat system bc like it or not, fiat isn't all bad. Not being able to earn the monetary premium from reserve currency status means fiat currencies are forced into more realistic valuations (i.e. less capacity to safely inflate). Small room for error will then force the governments to actually use inflation efficiently instead of purely for greed. Better fiat = better economies. To wrap it up, (safe cex), decentralized reserve currencies: - create an exit for world citizens - create checks & balances for fiat - makes the world economy more efficient Hard to beat that.

@gogoDiego There is a thin line between collaboration and competition here. No one wants to define it ahead of time which lets everyone mold into the definition that serves them at the moment. Similar to how Rockefeller called for collaboration but it was just for him to create a monopoly.

does defi managing risk kill it? the speculative era of defi was fueled by high leverage and unrealistic prices. but if the industry plans to be smart about risk, it also means we are going to have less leverage. less leverage means smaller revenue and smaller headline TVL. right? but a safe venue is a venue that attracts capital. capital wants to grow and multiply, hence the leverage. but its not completely short term growth oriented. once capital realizes it can be safe in defi for years at a time, it’ll call onchain its home. that’s when we see true growth. don’t fight the apparent depression, because the phoenix has yet to rise.

We use our treasury to support the growth of the Solana economy. That is, definitionally, DeFi. But economies don’t exist in isolation. For Solana to be healthy, all of defi has to be healthy. We like competition. We compete hard. But if we zoom out, we’re all pushing toward open finance and open systems. We’ve deployed our treasury into Solana DeFi for many years. We supported Tether’s recovery plan for Drift. In moments like these, it’s important to show up for the broader ecosystem too. That’s why we are lending USDT into @aave for the first time to support their recovery efforts, and we will also be bringing $AAVE to Solana this weekend. DeFi United

Due to how trust accrues, isolated markets gradually become a couple of curators winning anyway. Lenders want isolated risk but borrowers want pooled capital. A hybrid is the only thing that’ll serve those needs. Isolated capital for borrowers ends up increasing costs. Isolated capital for lenders ends up increasing illiquidity.

Bailout is obviously good for everyone affected and more broadly for DeFi. But all the same problems remain. Aave v3 is still a complete mess of a lending protocol and needs major surgery. It was ludicrous it was marketed as a risk free rate. Isolated markets for the win.

Marshall Herskovitz - find me at the blue place
Do we understand yet that AI is one giant surveillance apparatus? And our current administration is working to centralize all private information? And the people who used to be most against this - conservatives - are now silent about it? There is no liberty without privacy.

World, Sam Altman's digital identity project, just unveiled World ID 4.0, what the company calls "full-stack proof of human" infrastructure. The partner list: Tinder, Zoom, DocuSign, Shopify, Okta, AWS, and Vercel. Altman opened by saying we're heading to a world where AI generates more content than humans. Pantera Capital says we've already crossed that threshold. World's answer is an iris-scanning device called the Orb that creates a unique cryptographic ID proving you're a real person. 18 million people across 160 countries have already verified. Tinder is rolling out "verified human" badges in the U.S. after a Japan pilot. Zoom built a feature called "Deep Face" that verifies the person on a video call isn't a deepfake. DocuSign is adding proof-of-human checks to digital signatures. Shopify is enabling verified-human commerce. The most significant announcement is AgentKit, infrastructure that lets AI agents carry cryptographic proof they're acting on behalf of a verified human. Okta built an agent delegation system on top of it. The problem World is solving is real. The question is whether a centralized iris-scanning identity layer controlled by the same person whose company helped create the problem is the right answer. Altman is the CEO of OpenAI. He built the flood. Now he's selling the ark.
